ridicolous grains on thsi junior bat!!

i got thisbat from russ at b3. he was putting it in the skip as his kid was two big to use it.
yeah it needs a clean up. but it looked useful to use as a autograph bat.

wasnt till i got home i was surprised at the quality of willow in said bats. anyone else seen such good kids bats?

here it is next to my aldred as i don't actually know what size it is.

it has 11 pretty rule straight grains on a thin blade with noheart wood!


 

 



even the ones on the back are almost perfect

junior bats will often be formed from clefts that have split during pressing or have another defect that means the wont serve a purpose for a full size bat but can be chopped down and still used for the junior sizes.

makes good use of the grainy willow such as the above without simply throwing it away.

The equivalent SH would be £400. Amazing the price disparity...

Market forces affected by adding value in the manufacturing process and cost plus pricing.

Interesting stuff when you think about it!

DXM mate  ;)

Say what you like about GM, to me they make decent bats and you can find some lower model bargains. Wouldn't buy a top of the range one personally though.

Not for one second am I having a go - they are very good bats but it's a great way of charging extra for bats.

I always liked DMX when he was on tour in the 90s. If he made bats, they would be baseball bats!

Apart from B3 and GM - I've not heard of any others.

I didn't think you were having a go mate, sorry if it came across that way.
I agree it's a way of charging more for their bats, and would go as far as to say their top of the line bats are overpriced. Due to their DXM machines you can get a bat in the exact same shape in a lower grade, that's where the manufacture process is worth it's weight in gold to the consumer, lower grade bargains  :)

i had a county glory back in the day which was half heartwood 16 or so straight grains.. thing was amazing .. still yet to get a bat that good !

Payouts may well be right. I know this and another bat, was made by streaky while at gm for Russ's kids. The other bat is okay, but not to this standard.
Working at gm at the time, streaky obviously had access to most willow, and probably hand picked this from a defect bin/seconds bin.


Once cleaned up, I'm hoping it'll look sweet, and then hopefully I can get some autographs on it,
