« on: January 06, 2014, 02:09:21 PM »

Hi I have always wanted a newbery c6 and finally got one on eBay and now it's hear I am a bit worried the bat itself is in very good condition it pings well but not sure the Handel should have a hole down the Centre any advise would be good

that's fine. A mate of mine has 2 of these and if they didn't look like that I would be worried.

That's fine Simon. It's not a solid rod but more of a tube.

Simon

The hole in the centre of the handle is the carbon element to it, in a similar method to L&W do in their bats with a carbo handle. I believe that this goes back to the prototypes that originally had carbon fishing rods used as the carbon core to them in order to test the theory behind the handle flex.

Nothing to worry about as every C6 has this hole running own the handle of the bat.

One of these is in the top 3 bats at my club, one of the old guys in the 2nd team has a lovely one of these. Top end amazingly clean blade and pings like you wouldn't believe also picks up amazingly well for a 2.12 bat. Every player in the club wants to use it at least once a year.

No doubt this will be a cracker

Simon, I know somebody with a working handle but broken bat. I don't if it's possible to transplant one onto the other though.
