Aussie may have seen it as it looks like it's from an Aussie show.

Reg Taylor. Guy sounds Australian. I'd presume he makes the pro's bats only! And the rest are made in India? Or do you think he makes the top line Spartans too? And the cheaper ones just in India?



Interesting to hear about clefts being dried more than old days, and also interesting to see the profile drawn on to the non shaped cleft.

Reg is ex-Austwide (Impala) - was doing bats for Sommers most recently

Guessing it's more a marketing move but he'll help with repairs, adjustments and prototyping new shapes

i reckon about 6 different bat makers will claim to make spartans for the top players. I know of 4 different ones who claim to make Chris Gayles bats.

Can't blame Spartan for trying hard to flog their bats! Gayle's bat is like a tree trunk but not convinced this guy makes for all four players.

Read some other stuff the other day which had direct quotes from the MD saying the bats were Indian made

5 minutes of free advertising during an Ashes test sounds like reasonable marketing to me.

Costs about £8k for a 30 second TV slot over here during a test.

he was doing bat makeing demos at the ground bit like grays do at lords etc fair play to him take my hat off to any caftsman keeping the old skills alive
