Special Six6 606
« on: January 06, 2014, 08:33:57 PM »

Having received this today I thought it would be rude not to post a review of something a bit special Vinay picked out for me.

Having already got one on order I sent an email asking for a lightweight Six6 - I plan to have one as a match bat and one as a net bat.
After an almost instant reply I was in luck, and an order was placed.

It is listed as 2lb7 (which I haven't checked) and picks up a dream. I have added an extra half a grip to the bottom of the handle and it feels lovely in my hands (I am a fan of the ripple grips on 1st impression). This isn't a huge profile and there is a bit of concaving, as I was expecting but this bat still looks like it should weigh more than it does.

I've done a ping test with a ball and it has a lovely responsive sweetspot. As GMs tend to open up with age I think I'm in for a treat with this!

This arrived today:

Thanks again to Vinay at VKS for an excellent service and a belter of a bat, this was a bargain if I've ever seen one!

Looks a nice purchase.

How come no 606 sticker? Or the gm now sticker?

I have a nice 606 on its way to me, and the stickers are present on that?

This one has 7 fairly straight, even grains and the only blemish which can be seen in the pictures, and I still can beleive the weight of it.
I'm pretty sure if this had been left on the shelf it would have been sold very quickly.

On another note I agree with you about removing the grade sticker, they look much cleaner without them (and I had to remove the GM now sticker, leaving that on would be village!)

I took the GM now sticker off straight away, I think it looks village to leave that (or a pre knocked in sticker for example) on a bat.
And I also removed the 606 sticker a it looks cleaner (but I have kept it on the bubble wrap the bat came in so I can re-apply it if I fancy haha)

It may look cleaner, but first thing I think when I see bats with missing factory stickers is either "fake" or "pretending its a higher grade"

Obviously only a few people(mainly us on here) will even notice stickers are missing, so probably doesn't matter in the real world.

Personally I prefer all stickers on a bat, that way if I decide to sell, buyer bows it's
Legit, and it's knocked. In.

Anyway, enjoy the bat dude, I hope my 606 turns out to be a good un.

I like the minimalist look all 4 of my bats will not have stripes or crown on them I think it looks better without but I tend not to worry about stickers though.

Great looking bat mate a nice lightweight one

Cheers guys.

As far as looking fake, anyone who's observant enough to notice the sticker is missing will probably know its real. And I wouldn't bother trying to say its a higher grade, if anyone asked I'd tell them what it really is.

I also prefer minimal additional stickers.  Youre dead right, the knocked in stickers and the like are village.   You know how to tell whether a bat is sny good? Look at the score board......

You blokes will mostly be too young to recall,  but it wasnt that long ago that when good players  feverishly sought through piles of bats for a good one, all those rubbish bats with 15 grains were put in the reject pile when looking for a decent bat with 4 to 6 grains....... in terms of performance, dont think because you bought a 606 that youve no chance of original le rebound.....

I'm not a fan of loads of grains, Jullian Millichamp recommends a bat with between 7 and 9 grains for performance and he knows a thing or two.
And the grade of a bat means nothing once the bat has opened up fully, if it's a goer it will go.

Its a lovely bat and Cameron when you do get to put it on the scales, you'll see it come in at just over 2.6!!

The scuff sheet is actually above the stickers on this beauty!
Is this now standard on GMs or was I just lucky with this??

Mines below. So your lucky? Having said that they are done by hand so an error easily made.

Can't see it sticking well with the embossed gm logo though.

Also how'd you remove 606 and knocking in? Or we're they randomly on top?

Seems to have stuck well enough mate, would cut it off below the embossed bit with a scalpel if it started to lift though.
And the GM now and Six6 sticker were on op of the scuff sheet (think that's the norm with GMs).
Strangely the F4.5 sticker is under the scuff sheet though  ???
