Cricket Glove ideas .... Currently using Shark Hammerhead
« on: January 07, 2014, 05:05:06 PM »

Hi guys,

I am currently using shark hammerhead gloves, as they were the most similar I could find at a reasonable price to the pair of Warsop Platinum gloves I had prior to these.

Have seen a few threads about onlinestockists and a couple of pairs that take my fancy however I am unsure about the quality of these gloves as no one I know has used this site before (also worried about the postage costs to the UK)

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers chaps

Hi Dan

There was a thread a few weeks ago about some wanting some plain gloves and asking about online stockist - try the search function or look under gloves or the wanted section.

Personally with the shipping costs & any returns being pretty much impossible if you have any issues I'd steer clear of online stockist and have a good look through all the sponsors sections in the forum and some of the older threads to see what's on offer. There is some very reasonably priced softs with great quality out there. Some of the sponsors are yet to publise there 2014 range (I.e. Blank bats, Shark) whilst others (ie Aldred, Red Ink) are available. Have a good hunt!

Alternatively the retailers all stock the high street brands (including subcontinent) and are all great to deal with!

The Tiger Shark gloves from Shark are superb gloves, best gloves I think i have ever had, really supple from the off and with pittard palms. And they've got a 15% discount until the end of January

Or (as a shameless attempt at flogging my kit) you could buy the great white gloves that I have up for sale on here.

Cheers for the feedback guys, will probably avoid the online stockist then, and have a look
Through the custom brands, I've had a look at a couple but mainly last years gear...

Has anyone used the blank bats gloves they look quite nice.

I haven't used the gloves but am hanging fire until the full 2014 range are available other than the limited edition you can see on there page. I'm going to pickup some traditional style as I don't use split style gloves - as I have 2 bats + pads you can tell I'm a bb fan as there kit is great value/quality. To be fair I'm sure you'd be impressed with any of the sponsors kit (give it a few months and you'll be like the rest of us with more kit / bats we can use!).

What's the blank bats performance like ?

As your on the forum and you've got a new stick sounds like a good opportunity for a introduction and a review with pictures under the bats section!

As mentioned you'd not go wrong with any of the sponsors - Paul (Aldred) makes some lovely looking bats. I used the 1st of my bb bats for last winter nets and for the latter part of last season when I broke my Gray Nicholls and yeah was impressed (it's a more traditional profile). I did want a slightly heavier modern bat so have picked up a Amplus profile with a higher middle. I plan to use this as one of my match bats - it's well finished and a great pickup but have only used it vs bola balls to date but am impressed so far and looking forward to a go come the season.

Keep an eye out over the next couple of months as there's bound to be the odd offer on

As someone said, Shark (our sponsor) is currently offering 15% off to forum members.  So buying a new set of Hammerhead would be a good option.

Personally, I use Puma, comfy, light, but often quite brightly coloured. The new style is a lot less gordy, but expensive.

There are some nice new GMs kicking about, 606 for £25 on eBay.  Not sure what Vitas is selling this model for.

I would be happy to use any sponsor's gloves, as they seem to have taken the time to put together some nice protective and stylish kit.

I have added a few photos with photo bucket and a few words about the bat so please have a look under the bat section and let me know what you think :)
