Kookaburra Kahuna T20 v Kookaburra Menace
« on: January 19, 2014, 09:34:01 AM »

How does the Kahuna T20 compare with the Menace?  Has anybody tried out both?  Which one is preferred and why?

Does anybody know if Kookaburra are releasing a new Kahuna T20 for 2014?  Or was 2013 it's last year?

Only t20 bat is the menace now.

No kahuna t20, no bight kahuna for 2014. Highly Dissapointed myself.

So if one wants a hit and giggle bat then we need to try and find a 2013 model Kahuna or buy the Menace?

I believe there is a Menace T20 and the Ultra menace for 2014, both of which are designed for T20 style games, or for blokes who use heavy bats. Only difference as far as I can see is that the Ultra menace is generally around the 3lb mark or higher while the T20 starts at something like 2.12 or so. Profiles look pretty similar.  Ultra menace will cost you a little more as well so I don't know if its a slightly higher grade of willow.

I think the menace range replaced the big kahuna from 2013 onwards for heavy bats in the kookaburra range.

Or a affinity toro, a mongoose, a black cat joker.......... Plenty of manufacturers out there. But yeah if your a kook only guy. It's the horrible menace only.

Hmmm I had wished to stick with Kookaburra... but I am not that keen on a Menace...

I may investigate other bat makers now...

If you are after heavy bats, I'd say GN cater the most towards that niche out of the big batmakers - I think they have 3 Extreme models that all go over 3lb at various price ranges - Maverick,  Oblivion and Powerbow.

Unfortunately in the same boat. Ish, I had a biggest kahuna 3.1. Greatest bat I'd owned. Unfortunately very soft, and it lost the inside edge 5 times(I really should middle it more) but by the time it was beyond repair. I discovered they had swapped the biggest kahuna to ultra menace as the only heavy kook bat available,

And the menace is awful. Very gimmicky. But it seems kookaburra believe heavy and t20 are for gimmicky bats only. So what can you do.

My story is similar.  I have a Kahuna T20 which is about 2.10 - 2.11lbs which needs to be replaced (dug out a Yorker and the bat has never been the same).

Would you consider picking up a 2013 model as a replacement?

I am thinking that I would prefer to get a second hand Kahuna instead of buying a Menace.  I was also thinking that there might be 2013 Kahuna T20 bats still in some shops but you would have to question the quality as these would probably be the dregs.

Could go with another bat maker but I guess I kind of know what I am getting with Kookaburra so I have always displayed loyalty to them.

This whole idea of buying from another bat maker is just blowing my mind!

The menace T20 is the same shape as the Kahuna T20 was.

So the Menace Ultra is the same shape as the old Menace 950 etc and the Menace T20 is the old Kahuna T20?

It would be interesting to see the two T20 bats side by side for comparison.  The higher sweet spot on the old Menace was a bit of a turn off (also the red and yellow decals are somewhat of an acquired taste!)

The Menace Ultra is a huge and heavy bat, but yes it is a similar shape to the old Menace range.

I have a Menace T20 but not Kahuna T20, happy to provide pictures anyway.

Thanks Vitas, it would be good to see some examples.  Also if you have some scales handy can you chuck a few on to give me some ideas on the weights.
