Bat sounding dead
«

I just got last season's bat from the store room in preparation for indoor nets and gave it a few taps with a cricket ball and it is sounding dead in the middle. It only had 10 or so innings last year. My other bats sound much better with the same ball and the mallet. Is this the sort of thing that can be fixed? Should I try knocking it in again or perhaps a refurb? Any advice would be great.

A cricket ball and mallet are not always an indicator of performance. Netting with it a few times would be my advice as the process of your technique and hitting the ball may garner a better impression.

quite - although if you've stored it somewhere very damp or very warm that might have had a (negative) impact.

It's been in the cupboard under the stairs in a bat cover. Thanks for the advice though. Let's hope it livens up in the nets.

Light sand, light oil and knock it in..... Unless you have a dreaded plastic sheet on it

Give it an hours knocking in, I've had the same in the past probably from soaking up atmospheric moisture.
