I think its the right decision tbh. Had a real chance against a demoralised attack to show what he could do and he didnt take it

I think it is a bit harsh.  He at least deserved another series to prove the point either way... at least he got more games that Bobby Quiney!

I am staggered that Marsh has got a gig.

His dad is popular in senior cricketing circles...

I was shocked how low his test average is... test on debut and then nothing...  Apparently he has been scoring runs in the Sheffield Shield (which is a strange observation as they haven't played a round of Sheffield Shield games for a while!)

Bailey probably isn't up to it, that much is pretty obvious from watching him bat...but having won all five of his tests there is a god argument that he deserved the opportunity to prove the point conclusively one way or the other.

Or am I just disappointed not to see Steyn and Morkel hurt him?

I personally believe he should have been given atleast one test. To play all 5 and win in a whitewash then dropped, has gotta be dissapointing

Especially as a few of his short leg catches, I doubt would have been caught if he wasn't in that position.

Or for Bailey to unleash the beast and score a couple of triple centuries... hmmm

He didn't score any runs so to be fair he probably deserves to be put under pressure.  Anyway, it is amazing how changing the colour of the clothing effects some players games!

It seems strange that Khawaja and Phil Hughes are probably the form batmen in Australian domestic cricket right now and they didn't replace Bailey

Five Tests and 8 innings is ample opportunity to see if he can cope at Test level. At 31 he's not going to get much better, only one fifty and a poor series of first innings scores. The issue I see is that they have brought Marsh in, who since being axed from the Test side 2 years ago has averaged 25 in the Shield, only 31 this summer. Even his One Day form didn't warrant a recall to the national side, mind you he has batted pretty well the past few times. Doolan is another 28-30 year old with a less than remarkable FC record, career average of 37, only averages 39 this season. He looks very organised and technically correct, but can he cut it against Steyn, Philander and Morkel? Big ask.

One of them will come in and most likely bat three, meaning Watson gets moved for about the 4th or 5th time in 2 years, which can't be settling. Hughes has scored 2 centuries and triple century and is not even on the plane as a back-up, yet you bring in a guy who has done nothing at all to warrant selection since he got given the flick? Can't work that out...

On the big bash the other day, Lehman said that Hughes was being monitored adn is doing everything he needs to do. and that Cameron White was as close to being in the national squad as someone can be without actually being picked,

He then picks Doolan and marsh?

To be fair to Boof he wouldn't have known the final selection at the time of that interview.  Interesting interview of Bailey (commentating the last game from memory) where he said that he felt that he did enough and that he just had to wait for the team to be selected.

Price is wrong George!

As much as I love bails, he was defeated whenever the ball swung and SA where their quicks can swing both ways Doolan and Marsh are the best candidates to cope with the ball moving.. Though I would have had Hughes in their too

White is back in the T20 squad to be fair, Test days probably over, but he has been a form player this season in all formats. Hughes they see as an opener, so he may not get another chance until Rogers retires, so that may be fair enough, but he deserves at least a tour spot. I really would like to see Chris Lynn get a chance, he is young enough and can play all formats.

The question I ask is:  Is Lynn any better than Forrest?
