Doesn't take an Aussie selector to tell that it was coming, deserves it

For me, while Bailey scored a few runs in a one sided series win, he didn't look like a Test batsman. His one day game is plenty strong enough though, and it's not a disaster to be representing your country in ODIs and T20 is it?

Depends if you think test cricket is the main gig or not I suppose. I think he'll get handsomely paid whatever so doubt he cares overly

As a fan I'd always choose Test cricket over limited overs, but if I were in Bailey's position I don't think I'd be losing much sleep over missing out on the Test game. Representing my country would be enough for me to be proud of, even just in ODI or T20 formats.

I am happy to replace George Bailey with the likes of Doolan or Marsh! Doolan scored 160 odd against South Africa in a tour game last year when they were in Australia! He is better suited to there pace attack, while Marsh has a lot to do to really get back in the mix he is a very handy bat he just needs to believe he is as he has self confidence issues! I hope Doolan gets ago get is one of Australia's best batters going around

I think most ODI specialist players eventually accept that their game is not right for test cricket.  It is hardly the end of the world really!

Bailey probably isn't up to it, that much is pretty obvious from watching him bat...but having won all five of his tests there is a god argument that he deserved the opportunity to prove the point conclusively one way or the other.

Or am I just disappointed not to see Steyn and Morkel hurt him?

Nice, great comment hero.

One thing is for sure, even if hurt, Australians don't leave the tour or pull the pin on their team mates half way through the tour.

Didn't look the part but he would be doubly disappointed at having been dropped from a winning side and seeing Marsh in the squad.

Agree, Marsh hasn't exactly piled on the runs so it is hard to see how Bailey can lose his spot.  Smacks of favouritism/nepotism... if the selectors were pickng on form then Phil Hughes would be on the plane.

Does anybody know what has happened to Tim Paine?  He looked like the next Adam Gilchrist but has stagnated (even Wade is ahead of him).  I have seen him in the BBL and he looks like a shadow of the player from 2-3 years ago.

Off the top of my head, Ashton Agar left the last tour early.

Damian Martyn retired mid-tour.

Tim Paine shattered his finger badly. He's lucky he can play cricket at all, as that didn't look possible at one point

That is massively unfortunate, good on him for coming back then!

I reckon the selectors got it right, can 't believe I said that!

Marsh deserves a crack but it's this series or bust.

What has Marsh done to deserve another crack?

But that being said Marsh has the potential to be a test player for Australia whilst Bailey right now does not (that doesn't mean he won't in the future)

I am not sure Bailey at 31 is going to improves his test game.

Marsh might?

Not that it's an option but Kawalja I think should be given a series and told you are in, so relax and enjoy.

As an Aussie our bowling has depth, batting I can't see any one ripping it up saying select me.
