First foray into softs....
« on: January 20, 2014, 09:43:00 PM »

Evening all,

My first foray into softs and these are my pads.....attempted to go for classy and plain front with a bit different colouring on the back.....ultra light weight!!

Excuse the bad picture!

Thoughts and constructive criticism appreciated.

If I'm honest I don't see what differentiates these from those made by anyone else?

We could probably apply that to all brands though as they are all made by similar companies ??

I like the batting pads and gloves matey, big of padding on the straps, knee protection and job done.

Clean and classy, I like the look.  It looks like you've put a lot of thought and planning into the colour scheme and got it bright without being too brassy.  I don't know what you call it but my Newbery SPS pads have a space for my kneecap so the pad sits flat against my leg without feeling like the knee is under pressure or pushing against the pad, now I've got that feature I'd look for it in a new pair.  What sort of RRP are you looking at with these?

Depends on what your going for
If you are looking to provide an innovative product not great
If looking to provide top of range equipment not great
But if you are looking to provide quality gear which is value for money might not be too bad.
So it depends on the price that these would go for and your target market - if its just club cricketers it does the job.

I agree with everyone, they neither look top end nor low end. For right price could be VFM. I like the colour scheme and decent protection as well. Is it something new in the market, I don't think so, but if priced correctly could be worth.

there is always 1 give away to the quality of a pair of pads or gloves .... the stitching

On pads always take a look at the stitiching on the top hat, if you can see it then the pads is poorly made. Get them to stitch it using an overlay and with very tight stitching, better finish and it wont split.

Based on that, like most pads i would see these and say .... poor quality

Gloves ..... if you can see where they have tied off the stitching in knots, its the same, poor quality workmanship.

Pu quality and under the knee protection around the cross section of the shin bolster and knee roll

Agree john stitching is another sign and I used to think alignment but I have seen some alignment issue with a top brand company and not sure if it intentional or a mistake but they keep selling them.

Pads the high density forms use is another give away and the extra protection offered
