ICC World Cup qualifiers
« on: January 23, 2014, 12:06:09 AM »

Well, I was walking the dogs at the local cricket grounds this morning and PNG were playing Namibia on a nice summers day (Windy as hell). Anyway PNG were bowling and had Namibia 16/4 and in a lot of trouble. As I walked around the ground I noticed a very pale PNG player with the name "Jones" on his shirt. "interesting PNG name" I said. His reply in a very English accent "I was born there". What on earth is Gerant Jones doing playing for PNG at my local grounds? From Ashes glory to some small NZ ground playing for Papua New Guinea. Small world.

Born in PNG to welsh parents and raised in Australia.

So about as English as it is possible for a cricketer to be. ;)

He played for PNG in the 2012 T20 qualifiers as well.

Haha funny stuff.
I was looking into playing for Singapore a couple of years ago as i was born there. Anyone know what process you need to go through to play? Obviously Jones just needs to rock up but for a peasant whats the deal?
