Topic: my new county reflex (Read 5120 times)

went to serious cricket this evening, picked up this .
It weighs 2.9 picks up around that maybe a fraction lighter, I have never tried a county bat before but a few people swear by them.
I tested this and a few others gm, kook gray nics etc and I have to say this tapped up as good if not better then some 250 plus bats.
It seems to be pressed soft so I think I might have a bargain.
its not massive but has no concaving, and a long middle.
For those of you who are thinking about a hunts county my first impressions are very good.
I paid �85.00 for this good value?

Superb value at �85!!!! Second best bat I've ever used was a long handle reflex, not even the ******** (8 star) version, think it was a 3 star.

I see hundreds of these every week when i am at Hunts pottering about. There are many lovely lovely bats lower down the range.

Jake, do you think Hunts has become an undervalued brand?

Their bats are very competitively priced and extremely good quality - but just out of fashion?

I had this discussion before with Paul at IJC.I've seen quite a few in the Bristol leagues, so bats can be area dependant if that makes sense. In some areas they are popular and some not. That also use to make the woodworm bats and they used to go very well, other than the toes breaking!!!

I hardly ever see one in the HCPL or TVCL - A lot of Gray Nicolls and then a lot of boutique brands (Mainly Newbery, Chase and Salix).

I think they are lovely bats. One of my clubmates was sponsored by them and they just feel really solid - balance is impeccable but they have had many years of batmaking, and we shouldn't forget they used to make bats for a lot of internationals back in the day.

This is a great example of the value of a brand in the price model.

Hunts have a great pedigree and experience but have clearly let their brand slip.

Majority of Hunts are made in India. Think they fell down by being too slow to update their stickers, and by sponsoring boring players - like Ashley Giles...

Very good at what they do, and their kit is almost always great value. The customer service in the factory by the staff there is great too, they have a factory shop and will make a bat in front of you - for not a huge cost. Worth checking out if ever around Huntingdon, just off the motorway.

Not true. They made bats for a cetain Woodworm sponsored pro.

WOW 85 is a steal price, look at those grains mmm, although it has no huge edges or profile but zero concaving will cover it up due to huge sweet Spot , enjoy lucky man

They currently sponsor one of the most exciting young cricketers in the country - David Willey. They don't seem to be making the most of this, however.

Their branding is much improved, but they do still have an image problem.
