The Bounty from our visit to Newbery yesterday...
« on: January 30, 2014, 06:21:10 PM »

As some of you will be aware, Chris and I visited Newbery yesterday, which has become our home away from home in recent months!  :)

We picked out these 30 bats whilst there.  They are expected to arrive in our store tomorrow, so I will update the thread with pics shortly afterwards...

For now, all I will say is that the Kudos bats are getting nicer and nicer (and lighter and lighter)...  :)

Adding to this, I was really pleased with a few things from our trip yesterday. Firstly, the selection of Harrow and Junior bats in general was absolutely outstanding, and we certainly grabbed a dew absolute crackers. Secondly, the bats were in very accessible weights, the Kudos as Paul said was available in lighter weights than before, and we also picked out a number of other bats in 2"7-2"9. Finally, the quality of the 5* grade was absolutely ridiculous. These bats are selling for around £150 and they are absolute rockets, and plenty of them look very nice to boot. Fair to say we were really blown away by their mallet response and looks, and we think these bats offer as good value for money as anything out there.

PS. The photo of the bats in the circle is about as artistic as I get, took me plenty of attempts to get it looking like that!

Yep, we still have a Tour left over from our last visit, so couldn't really justify stocking up too much.  Plus, we realised that the Tours they had there didn't quite do it for us in terms of looks and/or mallet response.  A few really heavy ones, too.

WOW, great selection there Paul.

Have you any of the kudos in a heavy weight (2"12ish)

And what's the price tag on one at that spec?

Sorry forgot model  :-[ player grade.

Not quite, Alex - the heaviest Kudos we picked is 2lb 10.7oz (Player grade).  There are a couple of other bats in the photo that are heavier, though, and I'd love to ship three Newbery bats to you along with your shoes and bag!  :)

Am I correct in saying there are no 5* bats in the kudos range?

And yea, I'm real tempted... :o

Even if not to be shipped with the thruxtons, I get paid on the 12 this coming month and always had a soft spot for the kudos  :(

My current pay going for what you currently have, but like I sAid before Paul, future purchases will be made though your company at IJC, just hoping you are not mad at me phoning every two seconds   >:(

But to confirm Paul, what price the kudos? If 5* that two would be tempting if it is available. Really would...?

No worries, Alex.  Bats and other kit should be ready to ship to you mid next week, so yes, we may be looking at a separate shipment if you want another bat, but the bat price will be over £150, so you will get free delivery at least!  :)

The Kudos Player is £219.99.  If you added a 2nd grip to the 2lb 10.7oz one, it would become 2lb 12oz... And yes, you are correct about the lack of 5 Star Kudos bats.  Hopefully next year!

We also have a Krakatoa 5 Star bat in there that's 2lb 13.0oz...

Great! Looking forward it getting them, how do you find them, e.g. Do they tap up well etc?

And great, £220 is real respectable...I like the "all round" usage of the Thruxton, so how does the KrakToa range compare? and a 5*, what we looking at price wise? Do you have any photos of the Kudos? And that's true with the extra grip for weight!

I'm guessing the weight from 2.12 to 2.13 isn't huge no?

Alex, I will send you an email answering all your questions tomorrow, and by then we should have some photos of the Kudos bats up on this thread too.

Can't comment on bats unless having a closer look but very impressive photography.
