Rear splice cracking
« on: January 31, 2014, 11:11:04 AM »

Hi all
Rear of the bat on the splice has cracking that is almost forcing the splice out of the willow
It's quite minor but has a significant impact.
The splice is almost peeling and has minor cracking leading onto the willow
Is a bat rehandle required or will a reglue and fibreglass tape do the job?
Cheers in advance

Can you post a picture. Might help with diagnosis

How did you manage to do that?  :(

Maybe try some wood glue, I'm not sure.

It appeared gradually over time, perhaps caused from tapping down too hard. It's unusual because the front doesn't appear to have any splice damage

Looks like the handle hasn't been fitted correctly. Tight at the front and loose at the back so its split in the middle to back. It's repairable but needs a new handle otherwise it'll get worse.
