TPX 666 cricket bat review
« on: February 03, 2014, 01:29:26 AM »

Hi all,

recently received a TPX profile bat from our good friend James from Lekka. The bat was stickered up in the 666 cricket.com decals which im sure most have seen.
I only have one word for this bat...wow. The bat is a cannon. When i first saw a photo of it i wasn't 100% convinced it was going to be any good as it had quite the number of butterfly stains across the timber but how wrong was I. Weighing in at a tad under 2lb 8oz and boasting 45mm edges, this bat is truly amazing. I received the bat before the new year and wanted to give it a proper work out before giving it a review but i can safely say it passed with flying colours. There is just no way you can miss hit the ball, everything comes out of the middle!

I was hesitant also as being the long handle design, how different it would be to swinging a normal bat. It did take some getting use to but once you understand the timing, the ball simply pings off. I did find the handle to be a little thin for my liking but a couple of grips on it did the trick and is certainly something that wouldn't stop you from buying a bat.

In all this bat is amazing. The customer service James provided was outstanding and the bat was on my door when he said it would be.  This is no gimmick and believe if a major brand took on using this design it would work on the world stage.

Thanks

FLY

Bat in total is standard length but the blade is shorter and the handle is longer than a Short handle bat, there is zero concaving is a really full profile which maximizes the hitting zone from what i have read

Ha ha! Good old James, you have to admire his sense of humour.

He's managed to plagiarise both the bat design and the sticker design, all on one bat!

Is within mcc regulations for width and it is the photos, this bat has no concaving as it has a low spine which can be seen

that doesnt really answer the question. a middling bat is withing the regulations but doesnt mean its full 4.25 inches. Im just interested to know if to get the size the bats width has been reduced. obviously dropping the shoulders and making the handle slightly longer will help.

looking at it i think it is slightly narrower but you would have to ask James himself, when batting with it, it doesn't feel like it is narrower

Have you been batting on pitches made from plaster of Paris?

Not a looker in my eyes but sounds a goer!

I think it's the Lekka big hitter, the Joker copy.

I believe they were very good.

Quote a few I've seen are very very ugly though, finish technique not the greatest

They are the same size as the joker. And as with the joker, a ball that is hit stays hit.
