Hi Custom Bats Forum
I want to get a new bat and I was wondering if anyone had one of these and had any opinions on any of these and how they play?
Thanks

I had a little go with our Aussie Pro's Kook Kahuna pro last year and was not very impressed, he then had a go with my CA8000 and was pleasantly surprised.. Hope that helps...

I would look at other brands and you will more than likely save a few £'s in the process.

I would try to visit a shop which stocks these bats! Then try all the desired bats to see which one feels best to you.
A bat is individual and most bats perform adequately enough if they are pressed well. And certainly most bats in the LE type quality should perform more than well enough.
So the one element from a bat we all want, and which is individual will be how that profile feels and whether you just have to have it!

I have picked up bats that are the weight I like and the profile I like, and that are superbly pressed....but when I pick it up, it feels wrong!
And likewise I have picked up bats that feel fantastic. Therefore go and try them out for size!!

I personally prefer the Kahuna to the Firebird.  In my opinion it picks up nicer and feels better.  I have used a couple of different Kahunas over the last few years and they have served me well.  Kookaburras are quite hard pressed and you will need to knock it in well and then use it in the nets a lot before it will perform at its best.  That said even at 80% Kahunas are still great bats and the mid sweet spot is good for both front and back foot shots.

Also have you considered a Bubble/Bubble II?  Depending on what kind of batsman you are a Bubble may suit you more than the Firebird or the Kahuna.

I have never used a GN A61 so I can't help you there.

I have owned a Firebird 1000, A61 1000 and an older Kahuna Players. The Kahuna is very well balanced because of the mid placed sweetspot. The A61 was very responsive with a fairly high middle but the sweetspot was not huge. The Firebird was my favourite of the 3. It is an impressive piece of willow. Massive edges and not much concaving (less concaving than the Kahuna but more concaving than the Bubble). It is well balanced for such a big big bat with a low sweetspot.
