Finishing and new stickers
« on: February 04, 2014, 02:38:54 PM »

Managed to get hold of some grade 3 part made bats. Went for heavier weights so i could play around taking wood off with a plane and sander.
Bound the handle by hand, also found someone to make up the stickers i had drawn up last year.
See what you think. The first on is 2ib 7oz, big bow in the blade and the face had lifted a little, probably during pressing so added a face to keep it from breaking up anymore. Gave it to one of the guys at my club last season and cleaned it up for him for the start of this year. Goes great and he's really pleased with it.

The 2nd one was a heavy 2ib 14oz that I've managed to get down to 2ib 11oz. Tried to take out some weight round the shoulders similar to a gray nicolls or laver and fairly please with how the shape came out. My finishing is still a long way off but im hoping when my inflatable drum sanders arrives i can improve on that.

Hand bound the handle, fitted a toe guard, edge tape, protective face and a grip that roughly matches my colour scheme.
Grains are brilliant on this one but its a big brute and taps up nicely. This one is going to one of the 2nd team bowlers who also coaches the U17's. Hopefully ill get a few pints out of it.  :)

I like the stickers a lot but not sure about the owl (unless you support Sheff Wed). The bat looks good to, nice shape.

How does the home brew taste?

The owl is from the club badge, Only put it on for my mate, it's not on the normal sticker sheet. As for the home brew the beer should be ready to drink this weekend, All 40 pints of it. The one in the picture is a batch of 30 Rioja!

Love the stickers, work really well with the edge stickers they way they curve around the bat.  Lovely shape to the bat as well, lots of meat around the middle!

Have you considered putting the Owl on the front as part of the main logo (and possibly a bit bigger)??

The owl is not part of the sticker set it's just a club badge sticker I had so I used it on this bat as it's for one of the coaches.
Was maybe looking at adding a bit of silver to the graphics and possibly putting more shading on the clear areas!

Heres the full sticker sheet. There are a few different edge strickers to chose from but i like the ones that follow the contour of the front and back labels.

Had some polos made up and fleece bat covers as well. Next project will be branded softs and clothing.
I also have a branded fleece and a slightly diffent style polo made up but ill add photos of those later.
