Dead????
« on: February 11, 2014, 12:13:28 PM »

Hi guys

Want your opinion on this,  I have only seen the one picture myself, but I think it is probably beyond saving.

This bat is about 18 months old and was bought and (supposedly) knocked in at Lorimers at the start of last season.  Used for most of the summer before this happened.  As you can see, the crack is a big one, although not all the way through the bat (it doesn't show on the front).

Is there any chance this could be saved or should it be binned right now?  I am hoping to see it in the flesh in a couple of weeks.

Also, what is the main reason something like this would happen?

Looks pretty terminal to me, but then some of my teammates have actually fixed crack with nails and screws and continued to use them for years so what do I know!

Send it to Salix mate, we will tell you if it can be fixed or not. Looks bad tbh mate. Probably napped from a Yorker I would guess. Hard to fix these properly when the run up the middle of the bat especially by the spine .

Thanks, I was hoping someone was going to say that. I think it may be gone, but I have only seen the one picture myself.  If I can get hold of it personally, I will send it on to see what the experts say.

if there's anyone from the forum that's near by - i don't know anyone up that way, then pop it into them, failing that, you could send it back, hard line.

Send it to Ryan, he's close by. Plus he won't charge a fortune telling you yes or no!

Pretty much anything can be fixed.

The point is will it last and how reduced will the performance be.
