new maverick
« on: February 17, 2014, 11:33:38 AM »

just thought I would do a quick review on the new maverick 5 star I have.
Bought this on ebay from a shop called sports bay (I think), it was up for £129.99 or best offer I offered £110 and that was excepted straight away so bit annoyed I didn't start lower.

A package arrived within 2 days unfortunately it was a pair of hockey shoes and not my bat so got on to them straight away and the following day it arrived they also refunded my postage for good will. so cant complain as they were very apologetic and I thnk embarrassed.

First thoughts on the bat was just how nice the face is 14 grains + heartwood . not only that they are very evenly spaced and dead straight.
the weight was listed as 2'9 under the grip it says 2'8 which isn't a problem as it feels 2'9 in the pick up. Very impressed with the finishing from gn stickers all straight no peeling, toe guard fitted nicely and every thing is smooth and good quality.

it says gn pp but im not taking any chances with this one and intend to knock it in a bit on top, seems to be pressed quite hard but also makes a beautiful noise off the mallet really crisp.
here are some pics....

Nice bat as always mate! Can you hang onto it for more than a month? That's the question... ;)

The weight written on the handle is usually the pre-sticker and grip weight with GNs.

That does look very nice, especially for the price you got it at. Hope it plays as well as it looks.

Nice Bat mate. Forum members getting some quality lower end bats like someone got Kahuna 350 from Uzi.

Sports Bay definitely worth a look.....

They seem to have the same address as the Contact Us address for Gray Nicholls in Robertsbridge... hummm ;)

I can confirm that Sports Bay IS the eBay account of Gray Nicolls. They use it to shift unwanted Grays/Gilbert equipment.

Official title is 'Sports-bay-clearance'
