Main reason if I were a pro I wouldn't be using a proper shorter bat like the mmi is the speed at which the ball is being bowled at. Would you fancy facing 80+ mph with half a bat?

I can remember Dominic Cork on commentary (when someone, can't remember who) came out with a Mongoose) that Newbery asked him to use the TT. He declined saying something along the lines of "why give yourself less chance, it's harder to hit the ball if you've got less bat."

I was more referring to the slightly shorter versions than extreme ones, but Hayden wielded it well here

I saw in the recent NZ test that Jimmy Neesham was using a 5cm shorter blade, well thats what the commentators were saying. And he's a big guy 6"4.

The less extreme ones are more common, it's not as noticeable. We had a number of county players using off the shelf CoR3's. But the extreme ones are a much harder sell. There were big bonuses for using an MMi

Out of interest, How tall are you Matt?

I'm 6'2 and have a BC Joker Extreme on the way and I'm a little worried now.

I'm 6ft - my bat in theory is still a SH length in total - just the actual blade of the bat is a harrow size which only takes a very small amount out of the width which I can then have in the middle of the blade to make it a more powerful bat as most of my power comes from my swing speed this also helps in having a thinner bat - its just what I prefer and it's tried and tested for me.

For those interested, this is a comparison between a standard SH bat and my match bat. The Standard(White stickered) is a GM Icon+ 2'12 or 2'13, can't remember the weight but it's extremely light for a GM+ bat, compared to my custom made Vantage bat which has a harrow sized blade - this weighs somewhere between 2'9 and 2'10. The bats are exactly the same length in terms of from the toe to the top of the handle which is a standard SH size.

Hawk are bringing out a new bat this season that is a slightly shorter blade but standard short handle. Tried one at their showroom and it felt great, with chuncky profile but still fairly light pick up. I have a willostix stick that's a harrow but weighs 2.10 with 36mm edges. I don't notice any difference at all to a full length blade and several mates have used it and don't know its actually a harrow. Usually use 2.7ish in full size so I've found you can get a bit more meat in the shorter blade, so a bit more power where it matters.

Genuine CoR3's made by SS. But a special order, rather than a stock bat.

What was the difference then?

Made to their spec, in a slightly different shape from the lightest willow (but not necessarily highest grade) available. Same handle and that though.

They were like this:

Interesting, I still expected it to be a bit bigger.

That was the problem with the cor to me, it seemed small, and didn't have the wow power. Like the joker gives off.

Anyway back to the pro cor, any laying about anywhere? I still want one! Lol.

Too many people on here obsess about size of bats, but you're right in saying it didn't have the 'Wow' feel to it. The handle was stiffer and didn't give off anywhere near the feel of a standard bat, one of the reasons it's been moved out into a half splice.

I have a CoR3 stickered pro bat from one of the pros, but it's on my wall along with some prototypes.

Edge size spine size is all a placebo effect. But an effect that will sell bats.

The mmi3 had the wow factor. Hence purchasing one instantly. And I loved it for Wednesday night stuff. And bought a cor thinking it would have the same effect in my Saturday cricket.
It did not, never got on with it, don't think it helped they sent me the wrong weight, but i was young nieve and for some reason didn't think I could send it back, so just played with it.

If you ever wanna sell. Pm me.
