Hi all, has anyone had a go at removing the artificial grain sheets on 505 models?

Seen one I fancy as a net bat and as a refurb project during the winter but wondered if anyone had experience (good or bad) of removing the sheet to uncover the glory behind.

I found a nice looking bit of willow under a 303 polycoat so a 505 will probably be a decent stick (as long as you're not expecting 20 dead straight grains lol)

What method did you use Cam and how successful was it? Any photos would be great.

Ripped the fibreglass off, slowly scraped away the coating with a blade, then sanded her down and finished off.

Was long winded but worth the effort.

No pictures of the process but heres the end result.

How does that deserve to be a 303?! That could easily be classed as a 606 or 808 model.

I was shocked to find that under the cover, was expecting 3 wonky grains and a knot in the middle! I wont complain though, bargain willow!
