@Boondougal haha, only just seen this, bet you thought you got away with it!

I'd love it if you came down for a game, even it was just on a Sunday.

It'd be interesting to see if you can get it off the square nowadays.

What's happened to your leg spin?

Right, the club I am at currently has a chairman who is stats obsessed and firmly believes his sons are the best things since sliced bread. His son is first team capt and is banging on about 'competition' and that 'no ones place is certain'.. In all honesty, that means that his brother and two others in the top 6 are untouchable and there are only 2 of us that will be vulnerable. My 2013 club (who are in teh same league) still want me back as I scored really well and I'm seriously tempted to move back to them as I really can't be bothered watchign over my back all season. It affected me last season I think as I knew they were waiting for me to mess up and I hated it, it made me hav ea bad season as I never felt settled or had confidence.

Would you guys move to where you know you had their confidence or would you stay and 'fight' for a place?

Same sort of issue for me,

Been playing 4ths last season and also Sunday's, yet not good enough to keep a place but helped the Sunday's gain promotion,
Again the club is ran by a couple of names, and so some of us aren't good enough to keep a place,
So I've bugged out and am joining a new team for next year, already after 2 nets the guys are ten times as welcoming as the other team so looking forward to playing for my new team next season

yeah I only avg'd 28 last year in the league which is pretty poor. I did have 5 bad decisions out of 11 games by the umpires which didn't help but still. I dunno, I don't want to keep moving clubs but I'm not prepared to put up with being messed about, especially when they aren't better players.

Pro cricketer you are welcome to come and play for my village team there is a Feb post on here with more details i dont think the club is to far away from where you are we play we play in the Worcester County league.
There would be no concerns  regarding getting a game has we have to chase players each week to play.
Or contact me and I will give any information you require.
Also you why should you have to watch your back knowing others are waiting for you to fail
If it was me I would be away faster than a rat up a drainpipe.

Leave
No questions,, just do it
Life is waaay to short
I've had the same issues as you described in years gone past, players friends etc come in who think they are better than they actually are, but get preferential treatment because their drinking buddies/family or whatever

If you have no real allegiance to the club you are at and you can get at least the same level of cricket and practice somewhere else where you can enjoy it more then I would seriously consider moving.

I'm most likely going to be moving on this year. I'm 90% set on the move the only thing keeping me is the fact I've been at my current club 14 years! Last year I really struggled and didn't enjoy it one bit (even missed last 2 games to play football - something I never thought I'd do, always cricket first) and it is almost certain I'll be playing 2nd team cricket this season, although my captain says I will have a role to play at some point.
I've been offered first team cricket at another club in the same division and have really enjoyed netting with them and they've made me feel welcome. They have also started making major improvements to the ground/facilities. Up until the other day I was convinced I would stay but I woke the other day and was clear in my mind it was the right time to move on. I think a fresh start with a new team and a new environment will reignite my passion for the game.
Has anyone else had any experience of moving on after a long time at a club? I have drafted an e-mail which I will circulate to my current captain and senior figures at the club explaining my decision  to make sure they understand. I don't want to fall out with anyone as I've made good friends there, especially with some non players.

When you get your fixtures pic a date... Obviously don't want to take someone's place but I will need a bit of notice.

I'm moving clubs again having not played really last season (apart from one game less than 24 hrs after arriving home from Malaysia) due to... 'administrative reasons' at my Cornish club. Glad to be getting back in the saddle to be honest, nets have been going so well... It really feels like I can kick on this year and start to fulfil my potential.
Looking forward to playing with my new team- nice group of lads, bit of experience in there, and they want me in the top 4. I'm happy!

Thinking of changing clubs for the upcoming season.

Was the highest run scorer at my club last season (included 5 100s), turned up to the AGM in November and not a single mention. Instead ended up getting slated infront of the whole club for not playing in the first's. Been messed about plenty of times in previous seasons with other players getting selected ahead of me and not wanting to play with certain individuals in the first's. So I have valid reasons.

Pretty much been told that I have to play for the side I'm selected for and cannot pick and choose. I rather play with my mates in the seconds and enjoy my game. Got to a point last season where I skipped some games because I was being forced to play for a side I didn't  want to.

Got plenty of mates at other clubs who would happily accommodate me. Just thought I would be loyal and play my last season in England at the club I've played at for the past few years
