B&S LE from Uzi Sports
« on: March 09, 2014, 03:28:46 AM »

Hi guys, I think I'll do the opposite of what most people have been doing here recently and post a quick few paragraphs with some pictures instead of a well worded review with none. ;)

I'll do a proper review of this once I have given it a little more knocking in, but initial feelings are good! As you can see, it's a pretty big lump of wood with no concaving, and I bought this thinking it was a 2.12, but actually turned out to be 2.13 dead when I received it a few days ago, and I was thinking about returning it. After reweighing it today, it's actually a touch under 2.13 now, so hopefully it drops down to around 2.12 and a half. :) The bat picks up well for the weight due to it being well balanced, and it does respond extremely nicely off the middle. Still needs a bit of work with the mallet higher up the blade, but already better than most bats are in that area anyways. It does have a long middle and that extra special thing about it, which is what made me keep it in the end. :)

Picked this bat simply because I liked the shape of it, I don't mind concaving as long as it isn't excessive, but there's something satisfying about looking down and seeing the 'dome' sort of shape on a bat. (Also, being a Test player's reject, I was curious as to what one would be like) I would say it is good value for money, not a bargain, but very well priced for the quality. The edges are actually a thing which bugs me a little, the inside edge is 33mm (was 34 before rounding) and the outside edge is 37mm. (Was 38 before rounding) Now I know it doesn't make a difference, but I wish they were both 33/34mm, would mean it would have been a touch lighter! (Very small thing, I know) Also, not massively impressed about the stickers on the edges, as they actually stick out a little, thanks to them being pretty darn big! However, the stickers themselves look really good, better in the flesh I would say.

Thanks to Asad for sorting me out with this lovely bat, cannot complain about the service! I received the bat the day after I paid, and had actually rushed Asad pretty suddenly! (Had asked him to put aside the bat a couple of days prior) Sorry about the poor review at the moment, but I can't say a huge amount without using the bat first! ;)

That's an impressive bat mate. Massive considering there is no concaving. Don't worry about the uneven edges. Just goes to show it's been hand crafted!

I have a B and S LE and the spine does not run down the middle of the bat!! So definitely hand crafted but not done very well. The handle on mine is also oddly shaped in parts.

very impressive, nice grains. I really like the shape, the only downside is 2.13 weight, would've been fantastic if around 2.11

Hi little review Chad!

I picked a couple up at Vitas after the launch by B&S and had a swing around for a heavier bat, nice pickup. As it's been a few months is this the Tendulkar shape or the standard one?

Was really impressed at the time and seem excellent value for money, keep us posted on what it plays like! :)

What's the pickup like in comparison to some of the rest of your 'fleet'?!

Very tidy bit of polishing there Chad, the bat's not bad either!

Have you considered whipping the stickers off the sides? They are very large.

Looks like a very good profile and weight. I wouldn't worry about the difference is sizes so long as it picks up and pings.

Have fun (and more polishing!)

Yup, it is a big bat! The only annoying thing is that some extra weight could have been taken off of one of the edges! ;) Doesn't affect the bat performance in any way, but eh, you know I can be picky with bats. :D

Ah right, that's rather annoying! This one runs down the centre, as you can see in the 'toe up' pic. :)

Yeah, I'm thinking that you may very well get a bat of this shape and size at 2.11 with that Crown cleft you're getting from B3! :)

Yeah, normally I'm pretty long winded, and after reading what I wrote, I still think I talk too much! :(

Yeah, it's the Tendulkar shape, and this one was made for a Test player I believe. The response is really good, among my top bats for sure! (You would expect it from a 2.13!)

The pick up is good, my friend thought it was a 2.11, but felt really nice in the pick up, and was impressed with the performance. (I would have guessed it was 2.11-2.12)

Thanks Gary, there's nothing wrong with the look of the edge stickers, it's more down to the size and fit of them! A B&S engraving does sound nice though! I think the road test may happen today, I've been spending time knocking it in, and it hasn't taken long at all! Really beautifully pressed. Also, the gluing down of the bottom part of the grip is a nice touch. :)

Thanks Matt, I must admit, I need to give her a clean! Not been playing enough recently… :(

I think I'll be taking off the stickers after the net tonight, then giving the bat an oil. It has knocked in really nicely, I've spent some time on the edges and toe, and also given the middle some knocking, afterall, that is the part I intend to use. ;)

Yeah, the edges aren't a worry, just could have been whittled down in weight a little had they been even! :D I am pretty fussy afterall!

haha, i hope B3 will make me a monster out of some special crown cleft. :) I am also getting another Ton Reserve having at least 42mm edges and no concaving and weighing  at 2lb 11.2 ;)

I personally asked for the side stickers to be left off mine as do not like them personally, indeed I think it looks better without.

Added some pics to mine chad so we can compare our reviews now :D

Very nice! :) The SS I have here has 37-38mm edges with virtually no concaving and weighs 2lb 9.3oz! Fantastic bats. :)

I don't mind the look of them too much to be honest, but you see so many stickers on edges these days, that it's actually quite nice to see a bat without any! :)

Haha good man, your B&S looks lovely too! Very big for the weight, and if it is one of the Supremes that I saw on my visit to Vitas that I'm thinking of, it really does pack a punch! I had a go with this in the nets yesterday, and managed to play some lovely drives and flicks! Didn't really cut or pull much, but was so impressed with this bat, everything felt really comfortable to play due to the large playing area. It really doesn't feel like 2.13!
