Eng are shocking.

Do I think they listen to the public? No. Why do I think that, the ECB seem to be totally detached from the cricket playing public, their interest is in themselves and the buck. The players are not as arrogant as footballers (yet), but as more money flows their way they are getting there. So they don't care what you or I think, they know that whatever they do they'll still get their pay check, counties won't drop decent players, same as footballers like Joey Barton etc will always get a gig.

Will the ECB go for a genuine strong leader? No. Why, because they have no interest in doing that.

Everything is money driven first, rather than for the benefit of the game
Everything is too PR driven
Too many 'fluff' jobs.. Analysts galore.. Kit men etc.. Poor players need pampering....

Make those players work for their money, work for the glory. Once they are in it seems hey get treated so well it goes to their heads. Keep their feet on the floor.. It's a privilege to play cricket for a living, and for your country.. Start looking and playing like you give a crap

Cricket is getting more like football and is heading that way in all aspects as far as I can tell.

I have just come back from nets tonight to see this...

Luke Wright... I have not seen your shot, nor played against you since we were 19, but HOW, pray tell, do you get stumped FIRST BALL OF YOUR INNINGS!!!! >:(

Why do we persevere with people who are, for use of a better word, inept!

On a happier note, at least Dernbach went for less than his customary 12 an over! Silver linings.... :-[

It just feels like the ECB, Giles,Cook and co are no longer getting any stick. They are keeping quiet and the general public will forget :(

If that happens then Giles will certainly take over and nothing will change.. Eng may get a year or two,at the top again but it'll be luck more than judgement

So why have there not been any successful cross overs in sports management at top if it is no different? If it was no different you would have expected to have seen a successful football manger manage a successful cricket team and visa versa at some point over the past 50 or 60 years. It hasn't happened because the cultures of the two sports are so different. The theory may be the same, the reality is anything but.

Skill set are difference psychology isn't.

A young game is sports psychology.

At club level it simple if your scoring runs do you look at the 2nd team opener?

But if your struggling for runs why do you take a interest when the 2nd team opener starts scoring runs?

Funny how insecurities in players is the biggest failings mentality is the difference at the highest level

Sports Psychologists are needed for people like Tresco, Trott and Yardy, when they feel they have hit a brick wall of emotion and need someone to help.

Some of this lot need a Sir Alex 'Lose and I will kick you in the face' Ferguson type who will kill them if they get out playing poor shots, or even worse, DO NOT LEARN FROM PLAYING POOR SHOTS!

ECB... PLEASE... Employ someone extremely demanding and, to a point, scary!!! I am sick of watching people getting out and looking like they don't give a monkeys about it because they will be on a beach tomorrow with the ECB picking up the tab!

NB. Yes, I do understand the role of sports psychologists better than this but I just think many are using this to mask batting like a total bunch of villagers! Strong, Autocratic guidence is needed in times of crisis. There is NONE of this... either on, or off, the pitch.

England have gone backwards.
Clearly the majority of this batting line up cannot play spin, or score runs against spin. Had badree played in the odi's England would have lost that series.

Why is broad continuing to playing with a injury? He had it in the odi's

Dropping like flies!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/26510212

Broad not to play in next two games.

Wright and dernbach are getting a lot off critism, but it's not there fault. They are both clearly out of touch, and or not good enough at this level, but they aren't gonna refuse to play are they? Nope.

GILES and whoever else needs to pick the team need to pick a decent side, not keeping picking people hoping they look good!

Tactics! Again GILES fault.

Surely as our leader it was his idea to drop our 4 spin attack in place of a seam attack. It can't have been broads(atleast not alone) and I doubt it was dernbach a call.

Funny thing is, too me this change showed how weak minded, and not upto the job GILES is.
West Indies have done nothingut big up how gayle will destroy the slow bowlers now he's back, and it would be a bad tactic for England to use them.
And it looks like giles has fell for it. "Oh crap gayle is back and they say he.  Can destroy spinners" "boys drop the Working tactic and not look at pitch, we going for seam to render gayle useless"

Does he not watch the ipl? He slaps about medium paces for fun, yet can struggle against spin dependant on how in, how good, and the wicket.
Infact he got bamboozled by tredwell.

GILES needs to go! And now.

And my iPad Ned's to stop putting GILES in Capitol letters. Grrr

Don't believe wright and Dernbach have ever been in the 'right touch'. Wright may have scored some runs on flat bbl pitches and without facing decent spinners but he's clearly not good enough for international cricket.

Have to agree with you on selection. Broad said 4 pacers were selected due to the conditions 4 years ago during the t20 WC.
Who's dumb enough to disregard the current pitch and go with something that worked 4 years ago.
Even pollard from the studio said it would spin given results in the carribean PL. They have a back room staff of 15+ yet couldn't do the research. Pretty shocking. Back room staff must be 'good blokes'.

As you mentioned off spinners have had success against gayle, particularly swanny. But maybe management forgot.

Looks like management selected this team without taking into consideration the odi series  :-[

More spin and turn in the t20 WC, England Will probably struggle despite being in the easier of the 2 groups

At last, someone else has finally mentioned all these 'analysts'... Sit there on there laptops but seem to miss the signs they are looking for, miss the calls... So what is the point of them?!?!??

If Broad is suspect as well, why take him? Make Morgan Captain, pick another bowler. This way, Jordan might actually get a game and progress.

We won't win anything with a crocked skipper nursing himself through a tournament.

More muddled thinking!
