Kookaburra Midas 700 - behind enemy lines
« on: March 10, 2014, 12:47:48 AM »

Hi guys,
Thought I'd stick up a review of the incredible Kookaburra Midas 700 I got imported from Australia.
Firstly to you Aussies, get down to Saxon Sports , Chris the owner is an absolute gent and will sort you out.
Anyways, I got the bat in November but havent netted with it until today when it got a few throws
Only faced a few ball but pinged out the middle for the few balls I used it; here are the photos after purchase and before it was made ready by me.
It weighs a touch over 2.10 which would normally be heavy for me however it picks up just about 2.9.
The handle is all round which is different as I prefer a semi oval bat handle however it is helped by the kooka grips.
Initial thoughts of the bat are good. It has far too many grains and performs too well to be a 700 so I think I've got a steal at the price. Unfortunately I am not Chad and do not post in depth reviews on a bats specs  :D so deal with it

I also bought the 1200 gloves which are top class and have to be the best gloves I've had. Kookaburra Aus have really out done their uk counter parts IMO.

Closing comments, I felt for the price it was an incredible deal made better by a wee gift from Chris!
I doubt I'll use it properly as it's not match ready as I saw in nets today as toe and edges aren't nearly done enough!
+customs was a (sweary word) which made it a bit of a ball ache but in the end very happy just wish I'd bought two now! Lol

So you had to pay customs on Australia Post delivery? or was it another courier?

Can vouch for Chris. Im in QLD but he sorted us out with team uniforms at good prices and great quality - they were all sublimated, coloured with sponsors logos. Chris would reply to my emails at all hours! Even after they stopped doing the uniforms with Saxon he was extremely helpful and gave us the contact details for the people who he used to get to make them. Top bloke he is and looks like he has sorted you with a good'n there!

Quick update : Bat is opening up nicely, will use it with an old ball to see how it feels and performs to decide if it will make it's way into my kit bag!!

Interesting...I've never had customs issues when ordering from the UK to Oz. The only concern I had was when some heavy-handed Customs fool cut open the box to take a look and the cutter blade marked the willow in 3 places.

I ordered a fair amount so I imagine, they take it on weight??

Well, I must have been one of the last! This is Saxon in Frankston?
