got my hands on new balance achieve finally...
« on: March 12, 2014, 02:53:40 PM »

hi guys, since the range came out last year with the achieve bat i always wanted to get it but since its an indian made bat i don't rate it as a bat that i will pay for a bat which is 400 quid RRP, but 3 weeks ago when i was on GCCC website and saw the sale they are having, which i got my eye on the achieve which is sold at 170 quid which was extremely tempting, after a lot of discussion with friends etc i decided to have a go at it and it arrive today. i got to say the bat is very nice but i don't think it is worth 400 quid, for 170 quid it is an amazing bat though. Anyway onto the bat, it is a 2lb 10oz i order and it has a 38mm edge size and i think around 58mm spine height, it got 8 fairly straight grains and a few blemish which i suppose it doesn't affect performance.... in my opinion it is a big bat and the shoulder and toe are quite thick too, very light pick up and it feels like 2lb 8oz. from knocking in with the mallet and bounce the ball on it there is already a few indentation with seam mark but i guess it is just light pressed, i guess i will knock it in for a while before using it in net...

here are the picture !

I wonder what 'stable' they're coming from?

(Not trying to start the usual riot, as everybody already knows they are not making their own bats - just didn't get an immediate feel based on the shape).

Looks a lovely bat, love the grains and wouldn't be worried by a tiny pin knot

My issue with the knot is only based on the RRP of £400.00. Just my opinion but if I was paying that money out on a bat I would expect a clean playing area.

Although... The price paid was less than half that, so I guess my opinion is irrelevant :)

yeah the £400 price tag is rediculous, but it's surprising what people will pay for some stickers.
