Splice cracks
« on: October 12, 2009, 05:20:33 PM »

Had an ss matrix a couple of seasons now and its finally coming good, but as you can see I have notices some cracks around the splice area. There are also very small fractures on the shoulders, coming from the handle which are too small to come up on my camera. Any ideas to prevent further damage?
All my bats to date have been indian bats and they have all suffered from this problem, eventually breaking from the shoulders/splice.

In that case, perhaps you should get it replaced, by any reputable company. I think Solitaire Cricket will do it quite cheaply and to a high standard.

Wrong Wrong Wrong, even if the crack has gone into the shoulders it can be fixed by any batmaker.
I believe AlRidd just wants this bat cheap if im not mistaken?

Indian bats do not have the splice cut well do to the cheap nature of manufacture, my Solitaire is not handled well so would advise a bigger better solution to the repair.

Just an update, i got the bat rehandled from newberry via romda sports. Played with it twice and have since noticed this. Do you think I should take it back to romida or super glue and clamp?

It depends on what your deal with Romida was, if they said it was a simple repair send it back for another free, if they warned you it may not last you are out of luck.

To be honest, the crack doesnt look big enough to force glue in, and you do not know how deep it goes, so if you force it open, you maybe damaging it more to force glue it. Personally, I would use it again, see if it gets worse and then take it back to the retailer. Thats personally what I would do!

It looks like it has been rehandled as that is the only way to open up and glue shoulder cracks.

Cheers guys. I might just use it a few more times until the crack gets bigger, and then show it to romida, and if they say they cant do anything then just try to glue it.

Incidently when I showed romida  initially, they said that newberry would beable to repair it
