To be fair, they are bloody cheap bearing in mind you only need about three of them to build a house.

And there I was, knowing Fattus, expecting to see pictures of these:

I'm sorry but does no-one face any bowlers with genuine pace who bowl aggressively anymore?

I can bench my own weight, so I am no slouch, but if I tried to hook 80mph with one of those, it would be into me before I got it out of the backlift!

I have a few bats at 2lb13oz but any heavier and I would be in trouble... or am I on my own here? :-[

As Fattus says, comedy value - great. Adding anything to the glorious game of cricket? *Insert Family Fortunes wrong answer sound here*

FYI, MS Dhoni, Robin Uttuapa et al, spend significant time in the gym coupled with power hitting.

If you speak to/watch the England team, they spend a lot more time on flexibility and core stability as well as endurance training.

I would argue this has a bigger effect on hitting 'prowess' than the size of ones bat.

It's huge considering the bat next to it has a 40 mm edge I think it's going to cause some damage  :D

You'd struggle to play a swinging or seaming ball at 65mph with one of these... Let alone anything short... Don't need 80mph to get out when they are this big and heavy!

This bat seems along the same lines as the CJI Sumo/Trojan, though you can use them as match bats as well (as they are not lams). I wonder if there is a growing market for bats like these with more T-20 cricket being played.

With T20, the demand should be for lighter, but big bats (Low density willow). Possibly butterfly as to not break a really nice G1.

With heavier, not bigger (just to clear that up), comes the inherent timing problem (Weight to power ratios' etc.)

i dont get this 20-20 bat thing, i have never seen Hussey, AB De Villiers or Virat Kohli turning up with one.

Just play proper cricket shots using a proper bat.

Why do I think your eyes are lighting up at the prospect?  ;)

If I saw that i'd be convinced it was a LAM!

Might as well cut a section of tree into 6 pieces, sand down and add a handle.

Fattus, can we expect a video of you netting with this anytime soon?

I think you may be taking the whole thread a little too seriously.

I don't face any bowlers of express pace, and if i did, I wouldn't use this. I certainly wouldn't attempt a hook a pull or even a cut with one of these. I'm not interested in how much people can bench-press, and how flexible the pro's are. This is purely a bit of fun for me and my club-mates. As for me, I play my cricket for fun.

I, and the manufacturers are not trying to promote these as serious pieces of kit I'm sure - they are what they are, rather silly and a bit of fun to experiment with.

Read your post again, it sounds a bit angry (I'm sure unintentionally)  - I don't think anyone is starting a forum campaign towards 'megabats'!  :D

Why? One bat weighing 2lb 9oz will hit the ball the same distance as any other. It just looks bigger, but has no impact on performance.

I look forward to some "experimentation" in the Barn...

Ohh what a gem that would be!  Lots of furios attempts to drive stuff, and running away from anything back of a length!  (Actually, that sounds like one of my normal nets!)

That is true. The heavier weight will lead to a loss of bat speed at some point (which will vary from player to player) and have a negative impact on you ability to strike the ball far and time it.

I was wondering though whether the average club player looks at something like this and thinks they can become a six hitting machine overnight.
