I've had 3 clean up ops and if i take my case you are looking at 2/3 months I reckon although it depends what grade the injury was. All I can say is don't overdo it as I've had op 4 in September (distal femoral osteotomy) and I'm not fully recovered yet!

Just a quick update on this, I can't believe how pain free the knee is so soon after the op. I was back to work after 3 days. Considering playing in our opening game this Sunday.

Have you had the all clear to play from your Surgeon/physio/Dr - if you haven't you would be nuts to play and risk damaging it so soon after the operation.

If you are patient - it will help you - I had Achilles surgery a 17 months ago and haven't been troubled since - but took great care to get well first...

Hmm. No I haven't been to the follow up appointment yet. Been walking as normal since the op and figured that as I field at slip and don't really run much I'd be okay. Maybe you're right Buzz.

Don't be stupid. Sorry to be blunt but people really do skip rehab and whilst some are lucky a fair few are not and will get a re-occurance or injure other areas that end up compensating and then you end up injury prone and your sporting life goes down the pan very quickly.

If you have not specifically spoken to the doctor about rehab time to playing a game then go speak to them first. If you have, follow his advice, do the rehab PROPERLY and only return to action when the strength is back, the recovery period is done and it's been fully stretched etc.

end of hte day though, it's your body so do what you want. Cricket isn't worth it though!!

That's excellent news I am pleased for you, following my operation it was 5 days before i could walk unaided and a further 7 weeks before I could kneel on it without pain I don't know if you bowl but following my operation and  subsequent visit  to the consultant in February i have been advised not to bowl again.

Not blunt, probably sensible advise. I guess I'd lived and played with the knee pain for a couple of years so now think (foolishly) I could risk it.

If I do bowl it's of one or two steps. I can kneel on it now pain free with the I initial pain only really in the incisions.

Looking at the previous responses however I'd be a numpty to play before seeing the consultant for my follow up.

Good to hear your recuperation is coming along nicely- as everybody else says, don't rush it though.

Could you clear a couple of messages so I can PM you( with regard to your Sunday games)

Cheers
