Apparently Agger's doesn't fancy England's World T20 chances largely due to a lack of power hitters. It's hard to argue against that summation, but why do England have that problem? Is going large coached out of them? Are those sort of players turned down by the counties as lacking technique?

On another note: I'd have loved to have seen Ollie Milburn in his pomp playing in this format!

Forget the England black comedy satire and take in the different styles and nuances of the successful nations - will Sri Lanka show hope for the future post Jayawardene and the king of rhetoric Sangakkara? Can West Indies retain their crown? Will Chris Gayle score runs in the latter stages when they really matter? Will Jimmy Muirhead be the star of the tournament.

Yes, in the first year of T20, when it was seen as hits and giggles. There was an article in the Cricketer a while back about him.

You could argue that when Hants picked Glenn Maxwell he was little more than a grade cricketer.

See when you get toa stage in the flt20 or the 4 day season when you can't win or lose anything. I think more counties should pluck a performing clubbie from obscurity and see what they can do.

If they smash a quick hundred, or rip through a team, buzzing
If they show promise keep them.
If they lack at that level, send them away with a few wise words, and areas to improve upon.

I'd prefer to see England perfect their skillsets in test cricket and the 50 over stuff and not give a flying fartbag about this short format stuff.

The county scene here is still old school. If you don't go to the right school or club you won't get in (at least from what I've experienced in Essex). That kind of blocks talent you see prospering in other nations.

Lumb, Hales, Morgan, Buttler don't strike me as the worst bunch of power hitters in world cricket. Even Ravi Bop, Ali, Wright, Bres can hit a ball. I think the seam bowling and death bowling is more of a problem. Still think we'll lose every game and maybe (if they have a bad day) scrape past the Netherlands.
