I found this bat in the garage and have decided to refurb it for a bit of fun. does anybody have any tips on how to remove the grip? it seems to have been left in the sun and melted.

Chisel, stanley knife, scissors?

Id probsbly look to have it rebound with new twine. to do a thorough job.

Use a stanley knife, but be careful otherwise you will need to retwine it.

Pull it. It will crack and split and then you can gently scrape off the remaining bits which are welded on.

Use Stanley knife cut along grip through splits cut grip into small sections avoiding handle binding and peel off grip  sections using in a circular motion.

Yeah, it's perished, should be pretty easy to remove

just thought i would post the pic of the bat now its finished. its the first bat i have ever refurbed and it looks ok.





if it plays well i might reove the stickers and clean up the whole bat. just a shame i like the stickers

What did you sand it back with mate. Could just be the grain but looks like has grooves on the face

i did it with an orbital sander. it does look worse in the photo i keep double checking myself especially on the dark side.

i would only remove the stickers if i could get a replacement set as i do like them. hope it plays well got a net in a min

used this bat yesterday in the first game of the season and i was very happy with it hit a couple of nice 4s over the top and ended up on 21no
