How does a copy lathe work in making a cricket bat shape?

That is not a copy lathe i do not think it gives a rough shape. and cuts normally side ways leaving a rippled effect on bats.

The lathe is fitted with a initial shape (templete) and the 3 or 2 or 4 clefts under are rough copied to the template but it is not as neat as the picture.

It not a programmable thing it is a crude template copier.

However there a few little holes both top and bottom.

Dan does press a very good bat i have been there when he has done it.

Could be my eyes but looks like there are a couple of small holes at either end. Presume it's where it's held in place. Just wondered as it's not something I've seen before that's all. Especially leaving such a large toe to cut off

Are there any pictures/videos of how this works so I can get a better indication of what you mean?

One of these

Pattern of shape goes at top and 3 blanks underneath. The blades then shape the back of blank to a more cricket bat shape

Hard to explain really
