Long Handle vs Long Blade
« on: April 01, 2014, 07:03:00 AM »

I'm sourcing a couple of bats for the taller guys in my team and was wondering if any of you have had experience using both of the above? Did you prefer one over the other, I understand LB are supposed to pick up better, what's your experience?

Try them both but personally I prefer the balance of a LB everytime.

Same here, feels much more natural with a LB than with a LH

I used a LB for the first time this winter. It's a game changer. 6ft 2 stuffed back.

A long handle feels to whippy. A LB is more proportional. It feels just 'right'

Does a LB have a LH? Or is it LB with a regular SH?

It has a regular sized handle. You can ask for LHLB, but they're very very rare to come by unless you get it specifically made for you! Is there anyone around here who uses a LB SSH?

Its funny isn't it, I, like others prefer the long blade, I use both, normal blade and long blade.

Not keen on long handles.

Pretty sure David Warner uses long blade and long handle.
Despite being about 5ft 7. Probably something to do with reach.

I remember nick knight a couple of weeks ago saying That he picked up a LB and it felt perfect for him, he was was no longer falling over. At 6ft it did the job for him.
I'd like to give LB a try as my next bat

Thanks for the feedback, the guys have decided to head down the LB/SH route which should help with overall feel and pickup. A couple of G1 H4Ls have been selected. Cheers to Paul at Itsjustcricket for sorting this out.

Just an update on this, both LB bats have now arrived, a Tempo and an NV, the boys who got them are over the moon. Not sure what it is about these LB bats but they both have fantastic pickup and balance.

The Tempo was taken into a cricket store here in Christchurch to be knocked in, one of the staff seriously wanted to buy it, this store probably has close to 150 bats in stock he could have chosen from, he couldn't believe how good the bat felt for its weight. Thankfully no sale occurred.

Thanks again for the advice
