i usually budget for £60 and plan to last for at least 3 seasons. i tend to buy my softs in the end of season sale got my puma calibre 4000 pads or £18 and a second hand pair of salix for £14. my gloves from last season are still in good nick.

i would love to get my hands on a pair of calibre 5000 gloves to match my pads but no luck so far :(

I like all my kit to match so it gets pretty expensive

£60 for pads and £50 for gloves.

some of the prices around are silly for softs.

Depends how much I spent on the matching bat lol.

The only problem I find is that I'm very fussy with gloves and will use about 3-4 pairs a season through netting etc, lucky Andrew is very kind to me in the kit department lol.

this may sound ridiculous but why do people by new softs every year? fine if they are knackered, but have people forgotten how to enjoy what you have?

Well I tend to make pads last a good few seasons, and at least 2 for gloves (have 2 pairs on the go in rotation).

I'm also currently in a position where my current pads have had it and I'm looking to upgrade. Therefore I'd be willing to pay a premium price for both.

However I won't be paying the money just because they are more expensive therefore better. I'll research all options at the level I'm looking to get, and choose my favourite dependant on look, feel, fit, weight, protection etc. then pay whatever if required.

I buy them to try them out what actually get used in games is different and tend to be my old trusty although i use new pones this year.

Gloves i always like a fresh pair or two in my bag but likely to keep my old ones if usable going.

Price well 100 quid for a top class pad and gloves

I used the same pair of gloves/pads for 2 seasons but that was back to back English season then onto a year in Aus. Pads were well worn in and felt nice on the legs but still offered protection. Gloves on the other hand were not in such great condition...

Would always like to look around 100 for the set. Only issue with that was I was given my new set of pads for free. Does this mean I'm allowed to splash out on nice, new and shiny gloves?  :(

With all the nets and 50+ games my gloves are battered by the end of a season :(

Agree on gloves. Think they are different to pads in the sense they can get too worn out far quicker and you tend to lose the grip. Pads can last a few seasons if well maintained and looked after!

I guess i would follow quite a few others on here by having two sets of pads and gloves for nets and training and then on a saturday and sunday,
My net training gear is a set of Oblivion e41 5 star gloves which were about 32 pounds and my pads were sports direct sale Kook recoil 900's for 29 pounds
my match kit will be Kook impulse 900 gloves 45 notes and impulse 950 pads as well at 60 i think

I buy two pairs in one go. When I bat I always change them if I make it to the interval, if not in the next game I start with the other pair.

The reason being, your gloves won't knacker from from 25 overs but a sweaty 50 over job will soak them and then they don't dry out properly and get that slimy shiny look and feel.

I'm going into my 3rd season with mine.

I never buy pittards, think they are too thin and get soaked easily.
