After a net this weekend,  I noticed my Puma pulse 6000 pads have a split in the facing.  The pads in themselves are fine,  but this has happened



Which is about at the level of the top straps. I've had the pads for a couple of years,  but I'm quite surprised at the damage. I think I must have caught them on something. Do I keep going or should I just buy some new pads?

Secondly,  does anyone else find that the velcro straps feel like they stretch after a couple of years of use?

That happened to my slaz pads from taking a ball at 75mph when using the bowling machine.  I took them back to owzat who swapped for a different pair/ brand.

Well Tim, they will be usable - but they won't get any better I'm afraid.

Could use Fevibond glue or similar on them and stick it. I had a similar damage on a pair of Willostix which tore when I dived ( read fell ) to prevent getting run out.

How old were they Ryan? These are a good two years and two years of nets and games old...  I think it classes as wear and tear.

Think mine were about 6 months old. The PU came away from the stitching so don't know if it was the PU that was old or not. They didn't put up an argument though so must happen regular?

Open the split up, put a bit if white tape under there (I used Zinc Oxide) and then glue it back down (working the glue so it's stuck further down than the split, this should stop it spreading) and jobs a goodun!

I'm not sure how well this would work. The covering is a shiny, nylon material that was under stress and stretched tight by the stitching.

They're a couple of years old , and still perfectly protective. I don't really have the time to fart around trying to fix them, so if anyone wants them to have a go at fixing the front, I'll give them away. Postage is all that will need to be paid.

As a fan of Puma, I have been passed these to see if they an be fixed to a useable level.

Tim kindly posted them to me one evening and a day and a bit later wee with me, top postage option.

As an office worker, I had a lot of advice from women who sew. Ranging from adding a piece and sewing to bonding the foam and covering.

One mentioned tape, so I think that is what I will try. A textiles version of double sided sticky tape.

Gonna try to pick some up today and have a go at the pads this week.

I'll feedback how they go.

This happened to my pair of GN legends after only 3 or 4 net sessions!!!
The retailer is going to sort it out, pretty disappointing though for a pair of expensive/top end pads.
