Had a good winter indoors and then had two outdoor nets this week (Tues + Thurs).

Tuesday was damp so we were in the artificial nets......awful...truly awful

Thursday was why we play cricket. Rolled the net over to the training strip on the square and had a good session followed by some fielding.

Mad keen for the season now. Friendly tomorrow v Streetly, Ombersley next saturday and then the league starts on the 26th. Good luck to one and all!

Try telling that to our fast bowlers. No surprise myself (63) and our slow right arm swing bowler (28) accounted for 91 of the 140 league wickets we took last year.

Does it stop them running in at nets and banging it in short? No.
Do they go out in the first game of the season and bowl too short on a slow, tennis ball bounce wicket? Yes!
Do I call them all sorts? Yes, How else will they learn!

Then again, it hasn't changed in the 25 years I have been playing cricket. The joys of club cricket!

Haha unfortunately some quicks haven't got too much Inbetween their ears. And 63 leauge wickets? That's some going!

Reading a few of the posts here, the fast bowlers who come to our nets are as thick as the stereotype suggests!

Generally yes.

We call our opener "short and wide"
