Adidas Bats
« on: July 03, 2008, 04:56:13 PM »

In December the new 2009 adidas cricket equipment range will come out.

Here's some info I've found by sniffing around on the net. Most of it has come off the Cricket Hockey site. (www.cricket-hockey.com)

Cricket Bats

Incurza - Red/Black
Likely to be used by a top English batsman - to be confirmed

Adidas specific contour - weight from shoulders, for the player who loves a lot of wood
Long Middle
Pre-Prepared
2lbs 8oz - 2lbs 12oz
Oval handle - 9 cane
Adidas grip and toe guard
Available in four adult grades (Elite, Pro, County, Club) and three junior grades

Pellara - Yellow/Black

Adidas specific scoops - for the player who likes to get forward
Low middle through to toe
Pre-Prepared
2lbs 7oz - 2lbs 10oz
Oval handle - 9 cane
Adidas grip and toe guard
Available in four adult grades (Elite, Pro, County, Club) and three junior grades

Libro - Blue/Black

Libro is latin for "To swing and brandish with poise"
Wand like - feather like pick up
Pre-Prepared
2lbs 6oz - 2lbs 9oz
Oval handle - 9 cane
Adidas grip and toe guard
Available in four adult grades (Elite, Pro, County, Club) and three junior grades

Cricket Pads & Gloves
These will be available in four grades, like the bats, called Elite, Pro, County and Club.

Cricket Shoes
Adidas will bring out a completely new range for next year. The bowling boot is called the 22 yrds III Mid and is no longer a high cut boot due to the fantastic support and technology in the sole which absorbs impact far better than any other shoe.
The 22 yrds Lite III will be the best selling shoe and is ideal for batting and running between the wickets. It is a lot lower to the ground than the current model which gives you greater stability.
The 22 yrds III Allround has a rubber sole ideal for indoor cricket or use on artificial wickets. The Howzat range remains similar but gets a facelift.

Cricket Sunglasses
As the official ECB supplier of sunglasses to the England team, adidas have developed 2 sunglasses which are particularly good for cricket. The adivista is designed to adapt to every light condition and protect your eyes from UV rays. It comes in various colour frames and lenses - one of which focuses on red and reduces green so the cricket ball stands out more when you are in the field. The T-Sight sunglasses are also excellent for cricket as they have no bar and give you much better vision and awareness of what is around you. There are no screws in adidas sunglasses so they don't break - they are made with breakaway hinges which snap in and out, and they also have arms which are adjustable by 8%.

Adidas Techfit
Adidas Techfit baselayers remain but include the new powerweb compression range which can help you run faster and give you a better posture.

Not sure, although I have heard all the equipment will feature the Adidas 3 stripes. Just use the imagination for the rest, there can't be too much you can do with 3 stripes on a bat!

I've got a feeling it will be Bell but i'm not sure why? I think i heard it somewhere that his contract with slazenger is up soon and addidas will pay a lot of money. Also it looks like they are going to do completely the opposite to what i thought they would do, I thought they would do what reebok did and try and crack india but it looks like they are going to try and do the english market instead.
Batwise from reading the descriptions none of them really appeal to me but i'm interested to see what the addidas grip and toe guard is, also i wondor if anyone knows who will be making the bats?

Reebok and Adidas are the same company, so Reebok may do India and Adidas may do the Uk.

Not sure who's doing the bats, I asked a manufacturer who said they're not being done in Jalandhar. So probably China or Meerut, probably Sareens or SG doing them.

I didn't realise that tom, that would make sense. But if they're the same company why would the bring out another range of bats?

I know for certain that the guy who owns ADIDAS is the brother to the guy who owns PUMA, but never knew about ADIDAS and Reebok being the same company?!

Not true. Adidas and Puma were certainly founded by brothers, Adi Dassler and Rudi Dassler, but that was a long time ago and now both companies have their shares listed on the German stock exchanges.

if you want to find out ore go here:

Tom when you said made in China or meerut, i am guessing you meant by softgoods. I have not heard of Chineese made bats so far. Can you elaborate a bit.

Sg seem to be making a lot of bats, they don't seem to get the credit though if a kook plays well.
