Been selected for a pre season game this Saturday  :D

Now to try and argue with the family it is acceptable to play on Easter Sunday instead of spending time with them...

I was offered a game this saturday playing for our 3's (I'm the 5th team skipper this year) but declined. Was told i'd bat 8 at best and not bowl (mainly because i can't) and was away and figured it wasn't worth the aggro. Decided to tell the missus i'd spend the day with her and the kids instead and gain some brownie points for the season which should end the constant moaning about cricket every saturday etc. I think we all know it won't make a difference but i can only wish :)

First game is likely to be next weekend now

Double game weekend.

On the Saturday i took 2 catches (surprising as my gloves felt very stiff!) which were wicket number 1 and 2 of a debutants hat-trick, and scored a slow (28 balls to get off the mark!) 6 runs before smoking a drive out the screws and being caught diving one handed by an old bloke at mid off. We won easily though and the opposing team are an annual friendly fixture so we had a few beers and a good laugh.

Sunday i got in at 4am, so the first Sunday league fixture away in rural Leicestershire was always going to be a struggle. The oppo batted first, setting 220 odd including a ton. We scrambled 180 in reply. I got 32 opening the batting, don't remember much of the day other than feeling like death.

Now to try and argue with the family it is acceptable to play on Easter Sunday instead of spending time with them...

Wife, who is a Methodist minister, said " I suppose you would play cricket on Christmas day". She then remembered who she was talking too and shut up. I have played on boxing day and new years day lol

And It Starts

Eve of the season we have 19 for two team on Saturday.

We have lost 3 players who played week in and week out last year, gaining none.

I was confident but numbers are falling a recruitment is proving hard...............

Any tips on player recruitment, with tapping up!!
