Another rubbish day.  Pretty much every factor that contributes me not enjoy playing for my clubs 2nd XI came to light today.

People blaming each other for stuff when it's their fault.  Awkward silence at tea.  Crap shot selection.  Boring openers.  Playing teams that are better than us.  Having to fetch a ball in a pile of old grass trimmings full of mud and bacteria too.  Soiling a whole boot as a result of aforementioned pile.  Failing with the bat due to higher standard of bowling.

Can't wait for this season to be over!!!  Definitely finding a new club over the winter!

Conned out of my wicket today the ball hit me in my batting box and carried to the wicket keeper who along with the slips appealed for a caught behind as I was remarking my guard the keeper said to me the umpire has given you out so i took his word  for it and walked off. At the end of the match the umpire said to me I did not give you out as I knew you had not hit it.

Played 2nd bottom of the league and they had covers etc.. However, the wicket was very very very wet and it's just not been that wet in the last 2 days :(   No way they'd moved the covers either as the grass hadn't been disturbed so they did do a tactic that a few of us had mused about.. create a dog track, win the toss (hopefully) and insert and stand a chance..

They did all 3

their bowling is very plod but in fairness they do bowl accurately and with swing, so on a dog track, popping and staying low etc it's a nightmare. I finally got one that popped, caught the very shoulder of the bat an looped to close gully :(      still, least I wasn't given out LBW when hitting it again :)

Their reply was laughable, openers came out like a lot of players in the modern league.. just looking to mash it and no real ability to actually play each ball on its merits.. sure enough, one came off and got 40 ish.. the rest failed completely. one guy at 5 lost them the game though as he blocked and blocked and just allowed the rate to rise to 20+ an over... and still he blocked..

Overall, easy win. You don't really have to try to take wickets against the modern batsmen I've found as all they want to do is hit everything and it goes in the air a lot.. aka.. catch time. then they look all unlucky and crest fallen when they've got out... no fellas.. it's crap batting.

overall, good day for team.. 10 out of 10 and the league wrapped up. Two games left and we've decided to mess around for the last two games.. so as an opener.. it looks like i'll be opening the bowling for 2 weeks!! oh boy, this will be amusing and not go well.

had a great game today, scored my first century with my B&S gear and it also happens to be my highest score. We were playing against Hurley CC, we won the toss and batted on a really nice batting track, however there was still a bit in it if you bowled well. Myself and the other opener put on a 165 opening stand and batted really well, he then fell for 94 - holed out in the deep. then our youngest player came to the crease, at just 13 he is a great prospect. however today was not his day and he fell to an incredible diving catch at gully. at this stage we were 166 -2, again, in walked another junior player, who batted really well and made 34*. We finished on 280-3 with me falling on the last ball for 132.

In reply the oppo made just 186-5 and therefore we won, it was a successful game all round and to top it off i took a catch. Oh and the beer after the game was lovely :P marlow brewery IPA.

Played against IJC Paul's team in a friendly on saturday.  They scored 243 from their 45 overs, we knocked it off 3 down in about 32 overs.

I didn't bat, bowled a few pies and managed to bowl one of Paul's teammates out with a double bouncing offie...

Paul had 15 or so overs of Pad rash before being out first ball

Not a good weekend for me!
10 overs 3-45 on Saturday and a DNB

Yesterday 18* off 22 balls and 1 wicket (no idea how many runs or overs, but certain I went at less than a run a ball!)
I also shat myself repeatedly fielding at suicidal cover under a lid!

To top it off I chased a ball to the boundary and threw the ball in, but as I released the throw my left foot got stuck in the ground (it had rained heavily so was soft). The result, I saved 1 run, ended up with a rolled ankle and a job to walk!

At least we won both games I guess...  :(

We struggled again on Saturday, batting first hit only 159 all out in 49 overs. I hit 36 from 40 opening the batting against a couple of Hampshire 2nd XI bowlers.

In reply, the oppo knocked them off fairly easily, 3 down in 35 overs. Somerset's (or ex Somerset should I say) Chris Jones hit a steady 65* to get them across the line.

Did not put myself down for selection today  for  the penultimate match of the season due to going on holiday.Skipper rang this morning down to 8 players  overnight disappointing as the club as a slim chance of winning the division but more likely to finish third not a bad return when the club as played most of the matches this season with  8 9 & 10 players and lost by just a few runs or a wicket.
Still win the toss today and field 1st then shower and leave for holiday at the end of the match hopefully following an early finish.

Likewise, we are bottom and playing top and as luck would have it their Durham player has been made available for them, brilliant.

We came a distant 2nd today!

Opposition 315 all out from 45.
Skipper took 4-61 off his 10.
I went 7 overs, 1 maiden 2-56 (over 8 an over I know!)  :(

Batting we were 158 all out
Skipper scored 115 (not a bad day for him!)
And I was 2nd top scorer with 12* - not our best display!

Didn't play last week as lost interest and decided to do other things.

Got convinced to play today, so had a net wed to get me in the mood, it went well.

Ended up opening today, and got 70 of 91balls, putting on a 136run opening partnership.

We made 267for 6 of 46overs.

They made 212 for 9 in reply. Took a decent gully catch too.

Happier today with my cricket, but still looking forward to next year!

Played for the 2nd XI yesterday in a top of the table clash, and played against this guy

http://www.espncricinfo.com/southafrica/content/player/47520.html

At one point he had a 9-0 field, just everything was on the spot. We ended up getting 168 for 9 off our 50 overs which we thought was about 20 runs short, but we bowled them out for 102
