And my shocking start to the season continues. 2 today before plumb lbw after facing 21 balls. We scored exactly 100 with me the only person over 20 and 2 players that on,y ever played school cricket cos they had to for PE.

Season so far is 6,18,37,1,2

Know the feeling - 34,6,45,67*,4 - with the dismissals all freaks (run out backing up, triggered by an umpire who admitted he didn't realise that outside the line was a get outta jail free card, pea roller and then bowled by a Finn style no ball that wasn't called!) - sometimes I bloody hate cricket!

Looking forward to this weekend. League and cup weekend so 2 games!! One of our openers and number 3 are away so hoping to get the nod to move up the order, the chance I've waited  for nearly 12 months since I moved into the first team!!

D Cotton would argue he was robbed of a few wickets, he's a quality bowler, runs in ball after ball and nips it away at pace. The majority of batsmen don't get anywhere near edging it. He bowled 10 overs, 1-12.

We had a game like that a couple of seasons back. My mate got 9-27 or something against the team we happen to be playing this weekend. He still brings it up every week.

First game was last sat, rain affected but had the oppo at 180-5 off 45/50 overs when it was called off.

Frustrating as we would have been left with approx 20 overs and been looking at around 90 runs to chase down.

First match of the season tonight after a number of cancellations.

Crap day at work, mad trip to the ground in rush hour traffic, change, we loose the toss and are asked to bat.

Open the batting at No.1 and I'm given out LBW first ball of the match in my first match of the season. Been out first ball of a match once before but not first ball of the season.

Bit disappointed but also a bit proud as another first chalked up today at 50 years of age and in my 27th season opening the batting for my club.

I bloody love cricket.
