Finally scored some runs today, albeit just 2 (beats the two golden ducks), was the crease for a few overs with our team losing wickets quickly in the 20 over game, we only scored 73.

Got out as I changed where I was standing as my team mate was questioning it saying I was covering most of the stumps, once I change the position, I chop the ball onto the stumps which wouldn't have happened if I didn't change it around. :(
My new bat I presume got ruined since it was raining quite a bit when we were playing, I guess that's why people say you should get a wet weather bat.

Should have had a few more runs to my name and to the teams score overall, as my batting partner said no to several ones that were on offer for both of us, which was disappointing.

Also, I feel sorry for the lads we were playing against, traveled for an hour to get here only to bowl and field, but they did arrive more than half an hour late, we had to play in the rain even though I said to the captain at the time we should go off because it was getting heavy, the oppositions skipper said no. Therefore our team at the end of our innings didn't go out to field as it was raining throughout the whole game, it started to get lighter,

I would have happily played but the team we were playing lost out and our captain and the experienced oldie were hellbent on only playing when the rain completely stopped.

Absolute horror season so far!

Played 4 games- 1, 5, 7 and 4. Been a tad unlucky mind, left a ball from outside off that jagged back a foot and bowled me, was LBW one game where I was pretty certain I was outside the line, and last week I got caught at 3rd man in the first over!

Been dropped to the 2nd team to hopefully find some form this weekend, watch this space....

Have to second this. Guildford City have a shocking reputation. I thought it was just our lot that felt this way about them, but evidently not.
Hope they've changed their ways (or players) - for their sake and for the teams they play.

It was at their 3XI ground on Stoke Park - so not unpleasant at all.

Interesting comments as we beat them - we were a poor side, but they were considerably worse. They went from 94-2 to 98 All Out (with yours truly picking up a cheeky 5 fer  :D), they were a very young side but with one very decent bowler, and we limped over the line.

However, although the game was played in a generally good spirit, I could see the signs that they were a very 'exciteable' team with wild appealing almost every ball from places such as deep point and cow corner, much gesticulating and running at the umpire.
They also provided an umpire who seemed very fair and unperturbed throughout the game, until we were 6 wickets down and they were in with a faint sniff - then he gave two LBW's in two overs to a bowler bowling right arm around the wicket, and bowling back of a length.

It was an eye-opener, and I shall certainly have my wits about me for the return fixture.

I take it you've had bad experiences with them?

Unfortunately we had to put up with their umpire for 3 seasons in a row.  Never had a game where he didn't affect the outcome

Terrible reputation, terrible pitches - they were kicked out of stoke park I heard.

Mattsky - who do you play for?

Weybridge Vandals, Fattus. On an island in the Thames near Walton Bridge.
Even though a couple of our First team had a 'bit of disciplinary form' for language and what have you back in the day, they never stooped to cheating.
What have you experienced playing there, Fattus?

Despite a first game 51, ive since gone 8 2 and golden.

Last nights midweek game was a tale if 4quarters indeed.

1st ball i just tried to push through covers, it held up in the pitch and i skied it. Mid off taking a hangtime catch.

2nd ball, my fellow opener tried to push one through mid on and did the same.

So 2 balls gone 2 in the hutch. Luckily next to puy on 50partnership and a quick fires 17 in 5 balls from no.5 put us on 95 of our 12.

There openers came out and did the exact opposit to us! Theh raced to 65 of the first 3 overs with some crips 6 hitting and a few chinese cuts. Was thinking this be over soon and i can head home

Then a wicket, followed by another and again. Brainless batting. Every guy that wanted to come in was trying to smack 6s.

We got them 7 down and they needed 7 of the last over. Dot,dot, dot. Can we do this......4, 6.

So yeah they won, but with only 3 balls left when they should have won easily.
shows how topsy turvy a cricket game can be. And why you should never think lost. A few balls can turn a game.
