Got called up last minute for last Thursday's game, got out for a golden duck, lbw. Embarrassing, I'm not even getting picked anymore after it.

Fact is, I don't get much match time, I don't get to bowl, I come in to bat around number 5 or 6 the times I get to bat are when we've had a major collapse. Bowling's more of my strength compared to my batting, but I get played as a batsman. The team is full of bowlers and no batters.

I seem to play ok in the nets for batting, but when it comes to game time I don't know what happens, I lose the technique and all.

Just annoyed at myself.  >:(

Time to change club so you can get a bowl if that's what you're best at?

Did the ball move at all or did you just miss a straight one,
I was out lbw twice over a weekend last year and so changed my stance not massively just enought i now stand just off centre which means i can play the play the ball alot later and get nicely over o cover off stump and leave anything too wide as well

I was told by the batsman who got out that he was a medium pacer, seemed to me as if he was a spinner as it was quite slow. I have a habit of playing the ball early, it was just a straight one, hit my bat leg and I knew I was out instantly. Don't know why I played a stupid shot and went across.

So far my scores have been 0, 2, 0  :-[

Today's game I'm sorry to say was simply not an enjoyable game to play in. Firstly we lost after a good start to the season isn't a bad thing as can keep us grounded as a team. What really annoyed me today is firstly the quality of the ground. Played a team based  in Kent (not going to name and shame) This is a good standard of cricket in the Kent championship but no covers, no sight screens, awful facilities. Secondly is this stupid rule about no umpire and forfeiting the toss. We have an umpire avery week but this one week he has been really unwell. So we don't provide an umpire and we lose the toss. But they provide a shocking wicket, no sight screen on a pitch that sits in a bowl basically surrounded by woodland and 80ft trees, no showers and 3rd world changinge facilities. Doesn't seem a fair trade to me.

So we batted first lost a couple of early wickets both given lbw, so myself and number 5 build a nice partnership until there bowler an off spin bowler bowling to a right hander gets one to grip on the pudding of a pitch turn huge and hit the batter on the hip down leg side, bowler appeals like a moron and umpire gives it out to the amazement of myself and half there team, now the decision was that bad I just drop my bat and walk as far away from the umpire as I can, out batter asks what he was given out for and the reply is ct behind, keeper says he didn't hit it and I say to the bowler his appeal is worse than the decision his reply directly in from of the umpire is "I know it wasn't out but its my job to appeal" so I ask the umpire who heard what was said to call him back " no I've made a decision it may be wrong but I'm sticking with it.

We get to 151 off 46 with myself batting through for 65

So in there innings opener walks in front of all 3 gets one that shoots along the floor and plumb in front, not out. Anyway next ball he is caught no problem. So next guy comes in middles it to me behind the stumps umpire not out. Later in the game batter hits one back to bowler great low catch from the bowler we appeal and hand ball to umpire as claimed the catch, he says couldn't see it, not out.

Luckily the batter felt so bad he walked off.

My point from all of today is this team unfortunately have always been this way inclined. The majority of there lads are great blokes to talk to and are good players but the whole mentality seems to be to get away with everything,
. I don't want to use a set word as its not a great way to describe a team, espicially after losing as may sound like sour grapes. But the whole game is dictated by the forfeiting the toss due to no umpire when this is the first time in 3 seasons we have not had one. They provide awful or no facilities so surly it evens its self up as to make matters worse you have there umpire at both ends to contend with as well. Was he just incompetent or had a bad day?

Bad day for me...

1. Triggered LBW off an inside edge
2. Had their player plumb LBW - not given
3. Had a catch dropped over the boundary for 6
4. Destroyed the stumps... Only to be called for a no ball...

Great day for the team though so not totally upset - Another win. Now 3 wins out of 4 (1 x Abandoned)

i'm currently working offshore but keep a eye on how the team gets on and were up to third after a winning draw we made 170-4 of 46 and looks like the oppo played for a draw as they finished 42-8 of 46 pity we couldnt quite manage the last two but looks like we played really well and personally hoping to be back playing next weekend after a long net session on thursday and friday to try and get back into it.

Still not able to play Saturdays but had a hour spare so I thought I would watch a bit of out second team.

Missed the first couple of overs, but watch the rest of the match as we bowled the opposition out for 19 and then knocked it off in two overs.

It was at their ground.

Another loss for us yesterday. Batted first on a very damp, soft pitch. I opened up and top scored with 43, but we were 96 all out. Tat's the second time in 2 games we've been out for under 100, but better than the 54 all out last time. Bowled and fielded incredibly well to take 6 wickets, but 120 would have won us the game! Few positives from senior players finally however, me included, after scores of 0(3), 0(1), 1(3). To swing through the ball and not give a **** felt pretty good instead of feeling to much responsibility and playing like a statue. Helped that I was absolutely plumb (and I mean stone dead) first ball, in front of all 3, and about a quarter of the way up the stumps!

feel for you Chris. Agree that club umpires generally seem to cheat and player appealing when they know it's not out isn't really in the spirit. As for the facilities.. well, that's why leagues should have set standards and dock massive pts for any team that can't put out basic facilities like covers, sightscreens etc.
