Made 21 yesterday opening as is the norm this season.  My first double figures in 5 league innings! After scoring 99 I've had 0 (fired) 6,1 and 0 where the ball hit my pads and rolled onto of stump...

Frustrating to get in and out but it was good ball from a young left armer.  Went to drive it and it straightened and took off peg out.

With regard to T.W.comments they are a little harsh for the following reasons
The main reason for not playing was that I do not want to risk getting injured as it was bowling on this type of pitch when landing in my delivery stride that tore my knee cartridge this time last year which has finished me as a bowler also forcing me to take 3 months of work. .Following injury i am also nowhere near full cricket fitness. Also I do not expect or wish my club to drop anyone to allow me to play and in any case it is the policy of the club to give the players who who have played the previous week the 1st oppotunity to play next Saturday. With regard to the cricket teas comment I do not eat them just a cup of tea between innings will suffice but always pay my tea money. As for plush dressing rooms I am grateful if there is facilities to take a shower after the match..

Doesn't wash with me mate. I'm as injury prone as anyone, my knee is in tatters at the minute to the point when I yesterday decided I had to call it a day for this season. You're just as likely to tear your knee cartilage stepping off a kerb, getting injured is a risk you take playing sport.

Turned out with 9 players yesterday and a bit frustrated to be batting 6 again because we had no-one else capable of scoring. Got a peach of a delivery first ball but thought my luck was in as I didn't edge it. Anyhow survived that and within a couple of overs my feet were starting to move then our skipper got a good one which exposed the tail. 2 more wickets fell same over but last batsman is a beligerant blocker. Had moved to 18 rotating the strike with 3 nice boundaries when I got an absolute stinker of an LBW decision.

In reality this decision had precious little effect on the result because opposition went on to win by 10 wickets. Also if I only get 1 of these a season, better getting it when you are basically fulfilling a fixture than with 5 to win and 1 wicket remaining.

Bit harsh mate - 3 months off work is no laughing matter.  :(

Got my second golden of the season, got a genuinely good ball from a bowler who didn't know where he was putting it, he celebrated it like he had just got joe root out!

Absolute shocker for me today.Almost felt like I wasn't even there (as if I was in a dream on the pitch) Seriously need to lose some timber and get fit, especially after losing 8 months due to surgery.Made 19 with the bat.Bowled the worst I think ive ever bowled.I was to scared to look at my figures at the end

Needed 70 off about 5 overs, was nice to go in pressure free and have a swing after scoring f'all this season. Had nice 20, felt a lot more confident afterwards.

Out for a 3 ball duck. Lbw. Ball pitched outside leg but umpire had a shocker and gave it. (1 of 3 dubious lbw's given ). Bowled 4 overs for 11 runs taking 1 wicket ( half tracker that didn't bounce and had the opener plumb in front ). Only plus on a personal note was taking a decent pressure catch that changed the match back in our direction. Won the game and that put us clear in front as league leaders.  :D

Got 36 before getting run out on Saturday. However, more interestingly, we managed to win the game needing 7 off the last ball...  :)

First ever game as captain and we won!

Won the toss on a pitch that became more uneven as the game progressed, we scored 170 with opening bats 80 and 60. Opened the bowling and picked up the first 3 wickets with a couple of jaffa's. After my opening spell, we kept up the pressure and the oppo finally were bowled out in the 39th over 50 short.

Overall, loved the responsibility and achievement of success. Will be interested to see how it goes on a bad day.

Got a call late Saturday night from my son asking if I could play for his Sunday league side as they only had 8 men, which would have meant a fine etc.
300 mile round trip for me, but more than worth it to play cricket with my son in the middle of beautiful Exmoor.

Oppos batted first,,we fielded and bowled well to limit them to 192, on a lovely looking deck.
My bowling was poor,,not bowled at all this year,, managed a coupla easy catches at mid wicket tho
Highlight was watching my son off his full Saturday run up,,keeper 30 yds back taking it under his chin!

I was in at 3, as one lad had about 15 mins to bat before he had to go to work!
My son at 4,,, openers lasted about 5mins!!
So got to bat with my son against a half decent attack, and we shared a 150 partnership before he got a straight one that kept low ,plumb lbw. ,nice knock of 50
I managed to knock the runs off with 4 off the toe! Of my Affinity Toro
Finished on 108 not out

Was so good to play cricket with my son,, to watch his bowling and especially how far his batting has come on

Top day,, apart from the 150 me drive home

saturday i came in and hit a boring 38 to seal the draw for our seconds, boring but its the way youve got to play sometimes.

sunday however was the highlight of my season so far. Past two seasons i have played for cheshire however this year i was dropped from the squad. Sunday i was recalled as the first choice keeper was away . I came in and hit 70 not out. We finished on 190. It went down to the last 2 overs but derbyshire managed to get the runs. A good catch down legside stood up aswell. On a personal note a good day however a bit dissapointed as a team.

Interesting game on Sunday.

The oppo was skippered by a chap who was asked to leave our club last year. There was the potential for some fireworks. Fortunately he was on hi best behavior save a few bitchy and snide remarks.
The took 53 overs, declared, and left us 233. Around 50 short on our wicket.

We happily went in and knocked them off with my son getting the winning runs.

Oh, I went in at 3 and the first ball this chap bowled me went 1 bounce for four. He shut his mouth after that.
Fastereddie, bowling with real pace, pinned him a beauty on his left breast (man boobs). A few titters where heard. He also tore the middle stump out and finished with 14 overs 2 for 36. His best spell of the season.

A cracking game, good oppo, wonderful weather, drop dead gorgeous track.
