So I was given out lbw today after hittin it first. I used to think 'oh well, umpires make errors' etc etc.

However, that's now 3 such errors in 9 league innings and 2 more when I've walked myself when the umpire has then said 'I'd not have given it'. I won't lie, even youth the rest of the season has been good all that matters is league and I'm being seen off and it's really making me question if I want to keep playing league cricket tbh. What's the point In playing of you keep getting seen off as it's ruining my enjoyment. Added to that, the team where nasty pieces of work during the game, face the other opener and I massive send offs (I got treated to abuse, foul language and waving in my face) and when reported to the umpire we got told 'I didn't see it I can't report it and I felt it was competitive in nature'. If that's really what is allowed then again, I really can't see the point in playing as it's just uncalled for and  it fun. We have to pay these guys too and have no way to report them as the league don't care, don't listen etc.

Just seems totally pointless,

As for the game, we hammered them very easily so it wasn't like they stood a chance.

Full game in today - we lost by 1 wicket - we should have won.

However, I saw some village stuff today :

The slip cordon holding out their arms to position themselves by their fingertips - several times!

Their bowler screaming "howzaaaaaaat" as he was creamed through the covers.

Their opening bat in silver pads and blue gloves.

However all, of this was mitigated at the end of the game, by them breaking out bottles of Whiskey and soda on a trestle table at the boundary's edge and trying to hand it out to most of our 15 yr olds. Legends!

Punch him.

Not sure that would help! Tango, I actually am on the committee at the moment, although in a limited role as Sunday captain. My mother is on committee and has been informed and shown the marks, another of the committee was not impressed, and the chairman was umpiring and I voiced my displeasure to him! Our 2s don't have a match next week and one of our 'spinners' is away, so I should actually get a bowl next week so I have to be in the same side as him. Chairman will back me up, in my current job I cleaned his carpets on Monday and apparently they came up amazingly, so I am in good favour!

One of our bowlers did this today, off a ball that was properly clipped off the legs.

Close game today. Opened bowling and got wicket on 2nd
ball, and then kept them tied up for remainder of my overs with their overseas pro dropped late on in my spell.

They ended posting 185 for 6. In reply we were always up with the run rate, but kept losing wickets. Had to bat with about 31 needed, and managed to get triggered from the leg spinner pitching outside the line.
As a team ended on 181 when we probably deserved more out of the game.

Edit. Forgot about 1 issue, where one of bowlers was called for a no-ball where the ball hit the stumps half-way up. Turns out the square leg umpire called it when he let go of the ball, rather than when it pass the  bat. The guy went on to hit 30odd and swung the game in their favour.

Chased leather yesterday. The oppo got 273 in 50.
Me and our othe3 opener put on 60 for the first wicket, in 12 overs, before (for the second timeina row) I went back instead of forward and got cleared out for 32. We limped to 85 - 5 off 25 and 165 - 8 off 50. One lad came in and timed it beautifully for an aggressive 64, while at the othe end the chap was 6* in 27 overs!!!.

We have little bowling at the moment and only a top 4 who can score and rotate the bowling. Frustrating

Understand your frustration at the moment and why it's you feel it's no longer fun to play made worse by poor decisions by not interested gutless umpires who refuse to get involved. But don't let any of it get to you or allow it to ruin your enjoyment rise above the morons we have to play against think about what's good and why you play and continue to play the game in the right spirit.

Good win yesterday bowled the opposition out for 123 opened the batting and had batting practice for 18 overs then gave away my wicket with the score 40 for 1to give team mates a bat who had not had a bowl. Knee hurts this morning though.

Today was supposed to be the biggest game of our year.

The MCC. They always send down a gun team, so the HAC respond in kind with the core of our best plus a handful of bells.
Sadly, this is not the most democratic process, but this year there has been a very positive change. Us (older) members got a look.

All week I've been on holiday, surfing and sunning myself in mid 20's blazing sun, all for today. What happens? It absolutely throws it down!

My first game for the HAC against the MCC, washed out. Never mind. It's the gym and working for me this afternoon.

Good win for us yesterday against Chard, Keiron (BulldogCricket) opened the bowling against me and I was stumped off a wide from his 2nd ball! We hit 208 and bowled them out for 154, I took a pretty sharp catch at slip which I was happy with. Didn't bowl great, 5-1-25-0 but a crucial win for us

One of our bowlers did this today, off a ball that was properly clipped off the legs.

That said, we had one of these given a few weeks back - the ball apparently brushed the front pad on the way to the middle of the bat and was in line with middle.  Bowler and umpire the only two who saw it, batsman walked without complaint...

We threw a game away yesterday.  Chasing 149, all out for 103. What a waste of a day!

Got bowled 4th ball of the innings from a left armer who made it pitch leg and hit off.

Cricket is a crap game and I hate it!

Our oppo threw it away yesterday - 145-2 chasing 219 they only managed 178.

Admittedly there was some blatant cheating behind them only being two down.  In one of the strangest incidents of my 24 years I was deemed "a cheat"...I was surprised to hear this because I didn't recall anything happening - turned out that mid knock I'd had a big swing at a wide one and missed it by a mile - no one appealed, but the keeper later swore blind that there had been a noise, so I was told I should have walked, despite a) not hitting it and b) there being no appeal!

To say that we were happy to get the win would be an understatement.

Square leg umpire Saturday called a no ball on height to a bouncer that went past the batsmans shoulder - I asked what he had given the no ball for and he said that it was for height.

The Non Strikers end umpire then asked for a chat with the square leg umpire.

Proceed Square leg umpire apologising and I quote " Sorry Gents didn't see it bounce, Thought it was a beamer"

And we pay forty quid for that !!
