Batsman Warm Ups
« on: April 25, 2014, 12:25:55 PM »

Anyone got some drills or generic warm ups for batsman pre game? Sick of just hitting a couple of off spinners!

Full bungers in a net chucked underarm from a team mate about 12 yards away. Various speeds, various lines... get them thrown in quick succession....

Maybe take a couple of tees and hit a few drives, on the offside, straight and onside against the net...also hold the shot for 10 or so seconds for balance

Get on the bowling machine for an hour or so before the game. Suddenly that bowler who thinks he's quick isn't quick and gets spammed to the boundary for bowling back of a length and looks confused :)

Throw downs focusing on front foot defence, soft hands and balance. I follow it by different shots and trying to keep balance. I wouldn't worry about anything just before the game even if I didn't have a good warm up pre-game .

Find my chewing gum and sunscreen.

A few throw downs on the full to get my head moving at the ball(feet follow). Then con the other opener into facing the first ball.

Get a few half volley throw downs so you feel like Don Bradman.

Have a can of Fosters (other lager is available, that just happens to be what our bar stocks) and a cigarette (only if you smoke) and warm up done

With the exception of the can that was my warm up for years and if I was down the order and not umpiring then there were way more smokes  as each wicket fell. Thankfully I quit because I was a pack a game smoker( counting post match beers)!
