What sunglasses to get for 2014 season
« on: April 28, 2014, 10:04:05 AM »

Being the optimistic person I am.. Ok, actually I'm stupidly bored on this windows course :)

I need a new pair of sunglasses for 2014. For the previous 3 seasons (aka, my whole cricket career), I have used GN ones that you swap shades with light enhancing bits.. I'm on the look out for some slightly better quality glasses but hopefully still able to have normal shades and light enhancing aspects.

What would you guys suggest?   I'm looking for some pretty standard looking shades, nothing outlandish and as they'll be used for sport I'm not overly interested in spending mega bucks just to say 'it's x brand'.

I use the sunwise glasses that Paul @ IJC sells.  Best glasses I've used and only £30

Go for Oakleys mate.

I've got the radars and can't recommend them highly enough

Also worth a look are te Flak Jackets or Jawbones (think they're now called racing jackets)

They might not be cheap but they're worth it!

I've got the Oakley flak jackets with Polarised lenses. Cannot recommend them enough!

Look for VR28 OR G30 lenses. (I think they're the best for highlighting reds on green might be G20)

As MD2812 has suggested you can get one lens for all conditions.
I've got the VR28 which enhances red on green and it top drawer. Used them when overcast conditions and when the sun is out with no problem.

I've also got a 2nd pair with grey & yellow lenses which I used last year. Yellow ones for £20 off eBay for darker conditions, and the out the box grey for the 2 days a year the sun is out. They're easy enough to chane if ou go down the 2 lens route.

Huum...

I like the idea of not having to change lenses.. well, what I mean is I like the idea of not losing them.  Might be needing a trip to a Oakleys shop then.. best see if there is one in Manchestaaaaar

I think my lenses are G30s. I've found them really good for Red/Green contrast.

Oakleys maybe pricey, but they're worth it!

i ve got jawbones and theyre amazing!! i think theyre racing jacket as well however i think the racing jacket come with a removable band to hold them on... but im not sure as they were making both jawbone and racing jacket simultaneously.

its also worth spending a tad more and getting polarised they're great when on a bright day and you're under a high catch

Can only echo what other have said re Oakley. I've had my Radars for almost 4 years and wouldn't want anything else, even converted my parents to get some each.

Oakley square 5's mate, perfect for cricket and also social use as well £120 odd with polarised lenses I picked mine up for and that was from Oakley at Bluewater so no doubt via outlet or online you could get them cheaper.
