Butterfly Offer (Close up pictures added)
« on: April 29, 2014, 05:27:02 PM »

People have asked what the shapes would be like here some of the actual players Bats Shapes

1271

Mull05

DB1

DB2

DB3

Bragg

Sorry i have no Wagg to hand

We were going to keep this simple and offer the Butterfly grade in one shape (the DB1) and make these up (into bats) and then offer them on the Forum, but after discussing with ProCricket I think you guys wanted a bit more choice in the design. So I have had a think, and have come up with an idea of offering you more choice. Below is a few designs both Series and a few of our sponsored players that you can choose from;

Now there are two things that dictate bat weights 1. Model/Shape and 2. Density of willow, so we can say the Model is fixed when you choose from one of the above. Now the desity varies as Willow is a natural product, and as ProCricket has already said in this thread Butterfly timber is in general more dense than other grades. If we assume the same Density (400) for the above designs the weights would be;

Ref.   Model                  Weight * based on 400 Density
A.   DB1                  2lb 9oz
B.   DB2                    2lb 11oz
C.   DB3                  2lb 10.5oz
D.   Bragg                 2lb 10.5oz
E.   Mull                  2lb 12.25oz
F.   Wagg                 2lb 12oz
G.   #1271              2lb 15oz

An increase in Density of 10 increases the weight by approximately 1oz, so for a Density of 410, a DB1 would weigh 2lb 10oz, or a Density of 390 a DB2 would weigh 2lb 10oz.

So if I post a picture of a few Butterfly clefts with the Densities written on them, you should be able to work out what each shape would weigh with particular clefts and densities. We can do all of this for the same price previously quoted and you can still customise your bat (handle length & shape, sticker colour etc).

Does that make sense?

Simon that would be around 2-10.5 as the diagram shows as 400 density would be on the nose that weight.

If anybody is struggling to understand it just let me know.

Which profile is closest to the Michael Clarke profile? I have a similar profiled bat, so this would make a great net bat, or potentially replace my match bat.

Nope - I can't get past the Will Bragg I'm afraid!!! That would be the profile for me, lovely!!!

Can you get the Will Bragg as a standard profile at the off-shelf prices?

Dave,

What is the likely hood of getting a butterfly in the brag of mull profile in a 2lb 8oz? Is that a highly unlikely occurrence?

When one of the clefts above is a finished bat can you post a picture up of what they look like ... hard to see the willow on the picture especially with all the swizzles and swirls and different colours

Not great Matt for it to be a Mull you would need a 360 dencity and for a Bragg a 380 to 375.

We need a talk to the doctor about arranging a ask the doctor question time

I can confirm the offer has been extended to the "DW" shape found here

http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=30233.0

Exacts will be out soon on weight of the bat but around a 400 will be around 2-12 stickered
