Hello all,

I read alot on here but generally don't post much. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of forum members use duffle bags. I don't see the appeal in them? I like to open my bag up and see where everything is. I imagine with a duffle bag you have to throw an arm in and reach down inside trying to find certain bits of kit. I don't think I've seen anyone in my club or any others using them. Are they just an English thing?

The one that I have has a decent opening at the top so that there's not much reaching down inside, plus it has good sized external pockets. It's smaller than the bag I had previously and much lighter in weight. I can get everything I need in it.

I wouldn't use one for a match personally as I like to have things organised and easy to manoeuvre. However, I've found a duffle perfect for nets and training. I've kept my pads, gloves etc from 2013 just so now I basically use that kit for 'nets' and keep my decent kit nice and only used in 45+ over matches.

I use a duffle for a game and training. I find them to be easier to store and less consuming on space. I wouldn't go back to a full size bag.

When I get to a game, I take my pads out to put on the bench then arrange my whites on the hooks in the changing room, Then I can fold away the bag and not worry about having to step over it when I want to get in and out.

Imagine a room you can only fit 5 people in. Add 6 more people. Make them have to do thingsm like remove clothes. Put new clothes on in said room.

Now get 12 ridicolous big bagsm that can only lay on the floor taking up as much room as possible too.


You end up with alot of blokes falling about alot of kit getting stood on and squashed. As people generally dont put there kit away when out. You get kit being kicked and dragged around said room.



Me j use a duffle bag. Hang it on a cloths peg on the wall. And its out of the way and not being trampolled on.
Organised correctly. The kit comes iut in the order i want it to. So no rumouging around in it.

Main reason for me is living and playing in London, they are far easier to transport around using public transport. As simple as that!

I'm with you on that one. However, after a long game it can be bit much strapping a 40lb bag on your back and hauling up and down stairs, on and off trains.

Also, I've not found one with a proper 'back system'. That would make them more comfortable.

Couldn't agree more. As others have said, having a proper waist belt support (like a real rucksack), would make a huge amount of difference to their ease of use. Come on guys, let's get a proper back support on something like the CK22 Duffle (as in the picture below) and I think you'd have a market leading and killer product.

Sounds like we could 'adjust' a Bergen for this job then.. Pretty sure you could get everything in and you'd have a proper back system and durability... only down side... it's camo in colour... Just call it 'MSD range' and job done

We have raised this up several times over the years, I have been very vocal on this.

I love a Duffel as it's so much easier for carting kit around London.

I feel the problem with them is that they are designed in the view of kit storage first, carrying function last.

I have an Albion Cricket Caravan that I took on tour that fits 2x 5'6" opening batsman with room for kit. It's far too big to traipse around London.
