Dampen bounce at nets on a concrete base?
« on: May 07, 2014, 09:55:12 AM »

Taken on the task of refurbishing and extending the cricket nets are our club. Basically they have not been used since I have been at the club as we've exlusively used a roll-on cage onto an end wicket but we've bought a Bola bowling machine and want somewhere to use it so we don't lose those expensive Bola balls (lost 5 in first session !!!).

There were some old mats in there which have cleaned up nicely (with a pressure washer) and they are fine as top surface but the problem is there's just too much bounce. If anything I want it on the low side so wondering if anyone could suggest a cost effective solution. I bought some 7mm astro turf underlay but that has actually increased the bounce by around 50% !!

Also if any club has any old net carpet rotting away in one corner of your ground, we would be most grateful if we could take it off your hands. The bay is around 3.5metres wide but the mat is only 2metres so it would be nice to run some old matting along the sides and cover the bare concrete. I feel this would prolong the life of those Bola balls assuming we have any left by the time I finish this project.
