knee support wraparounds advice needed
« on: May 19, 2014, 11:02:48 AM »

Hi All
I keep hurting or bruising my knees in the ground. Any recommendations on support bandages or wrap arounds?
I have seen some neoprene stuff at boots but not sure if they are any good.

Tubigrip is prob the best option if its as a preventative measure to avoid grass burns/bruises etc.

Neoprene ones are ok if your looking for actual support to the knee but can get a bit restrictive if you dont get one the right size and are quite warm to wear.

I wear knee supports when fielding on hard ground the ones I have have a one inch hole in the middle of the kneecap to release pressure when bending down.

Having anything directly over the patella compressing it is a bad idea.
What you are doing is increasing wear to the joint by a factor of the compression applied.

Have you tried Skins? I wear them and it serves to do that job without causing pressure on the joint. They aren't cheap, but mine are 4 or 5 years old and still going strong.

what about the ones with hole as mentioned by Seniorplayer?

I have tried skins but I get too warm in them, tried both cool and hot versions. May be I will chop the legs off and use it just on knees.
